Under blue monkeys guidance I have gone down 2 back sizes and up 3 cup sizes and now have bras that fit. As stupid as it sounds I generally bought a bigger back size if the bra didn't fit rather than going up cup sizes.

I wear 34 FF (GG in some bras).

There are some beautiful bras out there! Currently wearing Freya (didn't know about the brand when I had DD! :A) Arabella in cassis. It's stunning :D

Check out https://www.lingerie-heaven.com. I found it on Blue Monkey's profile, She has some really great bargains - cheaper than Asda for "proper" bras! C cup (still can't get over it)!!!!!

I'm with you - after reading the thread I measured myself and realised that I should be a 32C not a 34A. Many thanks to blue monkey for all her help and tips, and I second the website. A whole new drawer full of 32C's for very little outlay.

I will need to buy some new bras very soon (following breast surgery) so need to get my head round this.

My measurement under the bust is 38" (cup DD) and if I am understanding you correctly, I can ignore this and look for bras that are in the 36" range, trying on cup sizes C-DD to get the right fit??

I'd try 34's with larger cup sizes than DD as well for comparison. If I go by the measurement + plus 2 inches or 3 inches then the bra is much too big and won't do up tightly enough. The band I need is one inch smaller than my actual measurement - but people vary.

Blue_monkey will be along with more tips soon I expect. :) Edit: I've just seen that Bluemonkey's site is closed for a few days so perhaps she is on holiday?

I was the same. A few years ago I was wearing a 34B. I wasn't measured or anything, so i'm not entirely sure why I started to wear that size!

I was measured properly a year ago, and was told that I was a 34D! No wonder they weren't fitting properly! I have gone up a dress size to a 14, and my boob kept falling out my bras, so I bought a 36D.. which weirdly fit at the back, but the cups were too big.

I was measured properly at the weekend, and i'm a 34DD. I finally feel comfortable again.

I definitely recommend getting properly measured and not guessing.

I just want to thank blue_monkey for her help and advice. After years of wearing the wrong size I am now feeling comfortable for the very first time. She advised me what sizes to try on 38D/40C and the 40C worked. Many Many thanks to her.x

thanks ot veryone on this thread i finally got around to going for a proper bra fitting this morning rather than a lasenza one - walked in wearing a rather uncomfortable 36C and walked out in a stunning but but not ver mse 34DD - Now comes the slow job of gradually filling my drawers with underwear that fits !
