Do you REALLY know your bra size?

You know how you can go into say next and be a 12 and then go into top shop and be a 14, well its the same with bras, different makes come up slightly differently in sizes.Snootchie Bootchies!0

Old style bra measuring used to tell you to measure your ribcage then add 4 or 5 inches to get your band measurement. this is pretty much nonsense, and where most of the back size discrepancies are probably from. the person wearing a 40d probably never measured 40 inches, iyswim?0

I'm late to this thread and maybe someone has already explained this, but how can ladies be 40 D and then suddenly 36C?? The measurement is your rib cage (isn't it????) and that can't possibly change so drastically.
The cup size I can see being a possible problem to be resolved but I can't get my head round the shrinking ribcages of some customers!
I think the general idea is that they never were a 40D in the first place.
The measuring system never really worked for me. I always started from the size I was wearing then tried going up cup sizes and down back sizes and vice versa until I got the best fit.Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -
I want to get measured but I'd hate to be told I'm smaller than I am (I'm not as blessed as most) so cant seek the courage to do it!! lol
I dont think I'm wearing the correct size, although I used the chart in the littlewoods catalogue to work it out...??? Anyone else done this?0 -
I done that worked out i should be a one size using a online guide so never bothered wearing a bra. i never went to get measured either too shy and thought they would laugh at me at being on the small size. I sent a pm to blue_monkey and she helped me i now wear a bra one band size smaller and 3 cup sizes bigger. and it fits perfectly. I was really shocked when she told me what size to try. last week i went into a well known shop got measured and was told i was the size i worked it out 2 be i tried on a bra that size and it didnt fit properly band too loose and cup size too small.pink_warrior wrote: »I want to get measured but I'd hate to be told I'm smaller than I am (I'm not as blessed as most) so cant seek the courage to do it!! lol

I read this thread this morning and especially Blue Monkey's posts. I took myself along to Asda to try some different sizes as times are tight wearing my 36A gel bras....came out with 32C standard tshirt bras. :j:j:j:j:j:j:j A C cup - I am so excited:j:j:j:j:j:j I was going to try a 38 chest at the weekend as I knew that they weren't fitting properly!!:rotfl:There are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0 -
slightly off topic, but does anyone know of any charities that collect/need decent un-wanted bras? I'm reluctant to take them to a charity shop if I'm honest.0

I know for a fact the add 4 doesn't work.....I've tried it before and I had no support and the bras fell off.....Whereas now I just go up an inch if it's an odd and then work the cup off that and they fit perfectly and I have no backache.....that's what I get for being an F** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
