....I would buy my coffee and my croissant on my credit card....
I like watching that tv programme $pend4ho!ics & one lady on there kept her take away cup from a flash coffee shop, but made her own coffee to put in it at home to take out with her; she said it made her think she was still having her daily fix :) And you could perhaps buy a pack of croissant in your weekly shop & freeze some, just taking one out of an evening to defrost for the next day?
It's trying to find ways of doing the things you like but at a greatly reduced financial cost, but of course only you know if it's worth the physical effort you may have to put into making those changes.

....This NSD lark. Isn't the idea to buy today everything that you need for the next x days? If your planning's good they will soon mount up. Is that the way to go?
So are you going to join us Schiff; have we whetted your appetite enough to make our little gathering attractive :p
I suppose it depends what you are trying to achieve as to how you want to work your nsds. If you just hate shopping & want to do as little as possible then yes, you need to sort out a plan of the shops you have to visit or the best time to buy on line. If it's more towards the money saving aspect, there are so many folk on here who can offer suggestions to help you do that too. Why not stick around & see how we work...

I've got the cough bit of the cold now so a lousy night's 'sleep' :( but a gentle one-foot-still-touching-the-ground :j for yesterday's no 7 *starts humming "seven little girls sitting in the back seat, kissin' & a-huggin' with Fred" car-smiley-003.gif*

At first I was afraid, I was petrified,
Thinking I could never live without you by my side,
But then I spent so many nights making meals plans, it's not wrong,
    And I grew strong,
    Without my purse I'll get along........hey hey........It's NSD 5

(Just let me know when you've had enough, bearing in mind there's still 20 days left in the month:o)

Thought I'd have to spend today but circumstances mean it's been put off till tomorrow so I'll try to get the shopping done tomorrow as well :T

Ooooooo..... I luuuurve that song :)

It's not one I remember from when it was released, but I have it on a CD which is amongst the 'handful' (large handful, but small percentage of my collection!) I've transferred to my iPod. When I hit that song the volume always gets cranked up, and - if I'm in the house or car - I sing along at full volume too ;)

    Lost another NSD!!

The 50p milk was back in today, so I spent all afternoon dithering as to whether the saving (94p for 2 against £2.18 at A!di if the offer's ended or we've no stock when I actually need more) was enough to give up an NSD for.....

Then, 15 mins before shift end, I spotted a couple of packs of Cod Kievs in the fish reduction cabinet (down from £2 to 99p each), so I sweet talked the chap behind the counter into tuck them away in the fridge behind the counter for me until I'd clocked out. OH doesn't eat meat (and I already had plans to eat a lot less myself once I only have me to cater for), so these have gone into the freezer ready for me to produce a "proper" meal when he comes over (at his it tends to be take-away pizza or chinese, or stuffed pasta with sauce and mussels - so I want to show him how quick and easy 'real' cooking is)

So 94p for milk (6p discount for buying 2 bottles) and £1.98 for 2 packs of kievs (2 in each pack), means I've spent just £2.92 (29p staff discount goes into my sealed pot as does the odd 8p 'change', meaning £3 off my GC budget)

ETA: Forgot the Whoopsies from the chilled cabinet - explains why the small coins in my purse didn't add up ;)

3 packs of Smoothies for Children - 8 drinks to a pack, each reduced from £2.86 to 35p. bbe is 13/10/10, but they'd been wrapped in loads of clingfilm before being reduced as the outer cardboard had got seriously wet somewhere.... that's 24 drinks for me to increase my f&v count over the next few weeks :T

So a total of £3.97, which means £4.00 from my GC budget and 39p staff discount plus 3p shrapnel in my sealed jar :)

  • spendy day to-day, did a cheapy shop run and snared some great bargains. B&E have big packs (1.5KG) doggy treats for £4.29, last for a bout a month (big doggles), much cheaper than buying individual packets.

will try harder tomorrow but may be missing cos I have to go strangle my secretary!!!!
