  • Whoops. Declared NSD 3 on Saturday but forgot I had to pay my sis for something she had bought for me from L!dls. However, today was an NSD so I won't count it and it will all work out in the wash.

Yesterday wasn't meant to be a spend day as I had planned to only buy stuff for my voluntary job which would have been reimbursed. Unfortunately DH and kids came with me and ended up buying bits and bobs to 'get them through the next couple of days'. I'd only done the weekly shop on Friday :rotfl:

Still a long way to go but only one more DD to count (28th) and 4 planned shopping days. That leaves me with a possible 17 more NSDs to get if I've counted right.

Well it was definitely a spend day today. I went to Morrisons and was supposed to be buying potatoes and cheese :o I did buy these two items along with a cake, some penguin biscuits, 4 small trifles and some bananas.

I actually spent £10.22 so I'm really ashamed now, and my children want to eat all the goodies as soon as they come into the house.

Oh well still stuck on 5 NSD.

Hope everyone else is doing sooo much better.

Out of interest, do any of you find you spend more or less when you have a spendy day after a NSD? Or do you tend to stick to what you budgeted to spend?

Personally, I think I am thinking more about what I spend on a spendy day as I have to plan a little better - but I'm yet to see whether I'm saving any more above and beyond my budget - guess I won't really see this month after I pay for my alloys to be de-scuffed...

NSD number 6 for me today.

kerri gt, i find that i now plan which days will be spend days as far as i am able to do that. There will always be unexpected expenditures but i try to get my necessary spends done just 2 or 3 times a week. If i see lots of offers on things i would ordinarily buy then i just forget the NSD challenge because it is going to save me money in the long run. For the most part though, the NSD challenge really does challenge my thinking when it comes to spending and it works really well for my family.

Now I'm planning NSDs I think I spend more on a spend day

However I seem to be wasting a lot less in the way of groceries, as I'm having to meal plan in order to attain my NSDs. I'm also being tempted by 'Whoopsie treats' a lot less as I don't want to lose an NSD for the sake of a cake or two.

These factors actually mean I've been able to stockpile some items and still not struggle for money at then end of the month, despite giving DS the monthly dependants pension of £130 in June and July (which is officially his anyway, but has been going into my bank to help cover 'his share' of the bills) so he can get things he needs for starting Uni next month

No more NSDs just yet, money out of account for prescription charges today, and will have to spend a bit tomorrow as well. Wednesday though looks a distinct possibility as I will be safe at work running my arris off for 12 hours with not a shop in sight. Then Thursday it's hairdresser day, so Friday is the next potential NSD. Daren't look any further ahead as we are orf on our jolly old hols on Sunday for a week so muchos spendios will be happening. One thing at a time, though, a quick dash round the threads before heading for Snoozeville USA.
