Polesalot's Climb to Debt Freedom

Sorry forgot to answer the question re Shred. It appears to be an exercise dvd by somebody who does the american tv version of the biggest loser. To be honest it sounds very basic, push ups, skipping, exercises using weights, and jumping jacks. I read about it on Hypnos diary. She seems to be a bit of a guru on these boards.
Thanks for that I might have a look into it although I haven't really got the time hence the running at lunchtime (just completed 4th run of the week so feeling very virtuous, although just eaten large lasagne so maybe not so good).
One of my friends is selling some Muse tickets on ebay for me. I bought them way back in about November (on the dreaded CC of course) so am hoping that at the very least I get the ticket price back. In my head those tickets are already paid for so it will feel like getting extra money although my new attitude to money will be to put some of it towards the debt. I am off for 2 weeks at the end of August with DD and although we're not going away we're going to have loads of days out so will need some extra cash for that.
Just made a PAD of £1 today. It will be more on Monday because my minimum payment DD will go out so can hold my head higher on the PAD board
Still haven't rung EDF and can't really do it here  Must try to do it later if not tomorrow morning.
Off to catch up on the diaries and maybe do a few surveys.

Wow you should feel virtuous and a lasagne is just what a girl needs after a long run. The shred video is 20 minutes long which is another reason everybody loves it as they can easily fit it into their day. The basic exercises also seem to help people focus and as there are different levels that helps too. I am still watching them all from the sofa.
I too have that attitude to money that I have already spent (such as expenses etc) so I use them to pay off cards too. I joined the make £10 a day challenge and it has really focused me on the extra money that I get which helps me to see it as extra rather than just coming and going in my account before i notice it.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Dear Scrooge has been shredding for months, tried to talk me into it sometime in April, I have yet to succumb ! It seems to have been adopted by 100's of DFW's. Think shares in company would have been good investment..
Hope the weekend is looking good.DC.

Yes definitely. I'm very intrigued now - I will have to look into it.
Just had a lovely hot bath. This is such an alien experience to me because ever since we moved into this house (3 1/2 years ago) there has been problems with either the shower or the hot water (or lack of it). If there were any DIY jobs that the previous owner couldn't bodge himself, then he got his mates in to bodge them for him . They fitted an entire bathroom with the hot and cold feeds round the wrong way! As a consequence the shower gave up the ghost about 18 months ago and I bought a new one but there was a problem with it so even though my dear plumber managed to fit it without having to remove any of the large (and v expensive tiles) behind it, it still wasn't very hot - actually it was tepid at best. BTW if you need to buy a new thermostatic shower don't get one from Aq*al*sa because they won't guarantee it if it cost less than £300. Finally in May the plumber got me a new one and fitted it, sorted out the heat exhanger on the boiler and now we have beautifully hot baths and showersno more prison style washes for us!! It's amazing how something as simple as hot running water can improve your lifestyle (even if I was £170 out of pocket )

Hi Polesalot, I'm enjoying following your progress, you are doing fab.
It was Buffythedebtslayer, who introduced me to the 'The Shred'. I think she managed to get a copy from the US and was singing it's virtues.
I tried to get hold of it, but had to wait until it became available in the UK region format on 1 January 2010. DC is quite right, Jillian looked at me, by the DVD player, until April of this year, and after I did 'The Shred', I did start to think that maybe I could reach my health and fitness goals.
Cheri's description of the type of exercises and reason why it is so appealing is absolutely spot on. I think Jillian gets you to start believing in yourself.
Bye for now.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -
Well I had a headache from Saturday afternoon until yesterday evening so didn't manage to come on here so my TaDa list should look very impressive now!

I fell asleep during the last half hour of Sherlock. I just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer (probably due the vast amount of painkillers I've been taking)....Or maybe because DD woke me up at 5am saying she felt peculiar and thought her heart had stopped beating. It took me a while to convince her that it hadn't and she was still checking it throughout the day, bless. It turns out she'd seen something on the TV where someone's heart had stopped beating and now she's convinced it's going to happen to her. Anyway I woke up as the final credits were coming upI'll have to catch up with it tonight if I can spare half an hour.
Still haven't called EDF !! :mad:It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -

Well, considering you had a headache you got so much done. I am impressed.
I refuse to give in to the Shred!!!!Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -

Rang EDF - finally (!) but only to give them an accurate meter reading for the gas. The estimate was very slightly under but I would rather these things were accurate. It looks like I should get the electric bill in the next couple of weeks so I will wait until then before I ring them about reducing the DD, need the extra ammo
I am now completely broke (apart my v small amount of savings) so if I don't get my maintenance money on Wednesday then I will have to dip into them for our food shop. I just need to stay in the black until payday (24th) then things will be much better. For about the last 4 months, what with one unforeseen expense after another, I have been starting the month about £300 in the red so if I can just make it through the next couple of weeks everything will be OK.....
Right, off to catch up with everyone else! It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
'The Secret' has made me think about things a lot. A couple of years ago when I was quite broke (well, more broke than I am now) I was worrying about things going wrong in the house...and guess what, everything did start to go wrong! In the last 2 years the following has happened:-
-TV went wrong (was 10 years old so to be expected). New TV
bought
- Microwave gave up the ghost - bought new one
- Vax broke - bought new one, half price
- Bottom oven stopped working (still not working)
- Computer went wrong - bought reconditioned one
- Brushes came through washing machine drum (irreparable) - bought new washing machine
- Shower broke (see previous post) new shower bought
- Leak from water pipe under the house, scary
- Heat exchanger went wrong on boiler - plumber fixed
- New shower not working properly, another bought
I've just read this back and it looks like I'm really accident prone and just break things:eek:!! It did feel like it was one thing after another but at least most of my stuff is new (or nearly new anyway). I've still got to get the bottom oven fixed but i took out some insurance a few months back so it should be Ok to ring them and get someone in to fix it now. I hope they can - the top oven is useless for making cakes - it just burns everything

My friend at work has an allotment and she has given me the most enormous courgette - it's the size of a marrow! I chopped some of it up and made a tomato and bacon sauce with it. I had some lardons that needed using up before the 12th so I've now got 2 portions of pasta sauce to go in the freezer. I've chopped up the rest of the courgette and divided it between 2 freezer bags so they can go in stir-fries or bolognese sauces as amd when I need them.
I made my PAD today - just a pound but I had a look at my Virgin card online and because my minimum payment went in yesterday my balance is now below the £2400 mark :j I'm going to keep padding and with any luck I can get it below £2200 by this time next month. There's no danger I'll spend on it - it's in the freezer.:D
Just hung all the washing on an airer in the kitchen. I hate it when the weather's like this - too wet to hang on the line but no central heating on in the house to get the clothes dry
Fingers crossed my maintenance goes in tomorrow....It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0
