Just ordered The Secret.....lots of positive thoughts....I can hear the money rolling towards me even as I type......

Errr...this is actually quite eerie. Got home tonight and there is a letter from Sainsbury waiting for me. 'Thank you for taking out your home insurance with us blah blah blah you may remember one of the incentives was £50 in Sainsbury vouchers, due to an administrative error there has been a delay in sending them to you but please find them enclosed etc etc etc' !!!!!

I didn't remember reading that in the terms when I took out the insurance and THAT is definitely something I would have remembered! There was a double nectar points for a year thing which suited me fine but I never expected vouchers and they are REAL vouchers, not just 'spend £50 and we'll give you a fiver off' type thing.

Still, don't need to spend the yet as did the Aldi shop it came to £24.14 - more than I wanted to spend but that's everything for the week - dinners, packed lunches for me and DD and cleaning stuff - can't complain really.

Just for good measure I have just filled out a Debenhams survey with a chance to win £1000 so am hoping the good luck continues :T

    To Do List for weekend

[STRIKE]Finish grouting in bathroom[/STRIKE] pretty good job for a first attempt
[STRIKE]Replace blown light bulbs (why do they all go at once?)[/STRIKE]
    Wipe over woodwork
    [STRIKE]Clean kitchen cupboard fronts[/STRIKE]
    Change beds
    Hoover upstairs
Sort through donated school uniform, see if it fits, repair if necc and label.
[STRIKE]Clear pile of rubbish that is accumulating on breakfast bar.
    [/STRIKE]
Go through the tutt under DDs bed and make up charity bag.
    Generally keep place tidy!!! ongoing....

I've done 2 loads of washing since I've been in and got them out on the line - hoping it doesn't rain tonight....

Hi Polesalot, great news about the vouchers :T

I too am in need of some trainers, I've had these for ages, although only started wearing them about 12 months ago and they are dropping to bits....I'll have to have a root in Sports Direct.

I've heard that Lillywhites have got a great closing down sale on at the moment if you have one near you? Sadly I just cannot afford it this month so will have to risk getting shin splints in my right shin :(

I think I will have to make some kind of modern art sculpture out of my epic trainers, it would be a travesty to throw them out after they've served me so well!

    :T at the modern sculpture.

I had a pair of new balance trainers that I bought in JJB sports in 1990 and I threw them away last year! I used tow wear them to the gym 5 times a week and walk the dog wearing them. I didnt think they needed to be thrown away but my nephew wanted to know what the smell in my hall was :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I had washed them a lot but I realised it was time to let go!

I wouldn't mind an X pole thing is I have got lovely smooth plastered ceilings and I have heard terrible things about the poles ruining them! I have got a pole that you fix into a metal and wooden base. Thing is it takes me about 45 mins to put the thing up and the only place I have room is the living room thenonce it's up it annoys me as the whole place looks a mess. Then it's another 45 mins to take it down again . In an ideal world I'd have a spare room for it :)

Well I'm ashamed to say that I have only just got myself showered and dressed :o Had lovely breakfast in bed with DD then changed beds and hoovered upstairs and cleaned kitchen up so haven't totally wasted the day.

Downstairs was lovely and tidy this morning now DD is playing restaurants and is making all the food out of coloured paper. I have just had a simply delicious salmon, chips and cucumber. She's now doing me a salad mmmm

I'm going to do a PAD of £2.87 today I think that's my highest for the week!

Later on we're off to the park down the road to try out the new outdoor gym stuff that they've put up.

Salmon pasta for tea tonight which DD loves and I have all the stuff in for it so hopefully a NSD for me :T

Off to catch up on the other diaries....

My first NSD for ages! This board really does have powers....

Calm has descended on this house. The park must have worn DD out because almost straight after tea she laid down on the sofa and completely zonked out! I have just scooped her up and put her to bed - very unlike her, I hope she's not coming down with anything.

I got to thinking this afternoon that I might as well have a few exciting goals to achieve as well as clearing the debt (although that will be exciting when it's finally clear)

I really need to get DD a desk. It's a year off but she'll be starting junior school and I know she'll be getting more homework. As things stand in her room at the moment there just isn't the room for one. Reason being is the previous owner left the bedroom furniture which consists of a triple wardrobe and a large chest of drawers. It's really the wardrobe that is the problem - its size dictates where it has to go and therefore that dictates where the rest of the furniture must go too q.e.d. no room for anything else. It's also quite dark and makes the room look dark too. It is great for storage but I don't think it was very expensive and is starting to fall apart. I saw a lovely white shaker style double wardrobe when we were out last week, really sturdy and would look lovely in the room. As it's smaller we'd have a lot more choice where the rest of the furniture goes and would be able to fit a desk in too. She also wants the room painted which I have no problem with as I love decorating and am actually getting a bit twitchy because I haven't decorated any rooms for about 18 months! So first goal would be to save up for new wardrobe and desk for DD.

I need a new dining room table. Ours has just about had it although it's still usable. Thing is I can't get a big one as the dining room is at the end of our living room. I saw one in the British Heart Foundation shop - country kitchen style including 4 chairs £125. It was the perfect size but about £120 out of my price range :(

I'm sure I'll think of more things once I've logged off!

All today's ironing is done and been hung up, going to sit and watch some TV for a bit and have a nice coffee and some chocolate if I can find any. I'm sure there's still one of DD's easter eggs still lurking in the fridge.

Going to show DD the delights of boot fairs tomorrow :T

You got so much done today P. (can I call you P?) I like the sound of your plans for the DDs bedroom. Have you thought about having a look on freecycle? There is probably one in your area. I often see desks going free on there. Also dining room tables are often given away. Shame about the charity shop find. I had a bit of a rant on the shabby chic thread about the prices in charity shops. Mary Queen of shops did a series on them and since then all of their prices have increased.

    Happy car booting tomorrow.

  • Polesalot I have to avoid boot fairs, I buy all sorts of junk, particularly books, beads, DVD's, old football programs, (see I'm going off on one already !) like a woman possessed, there are several round here on a Sunday morning and I ahve to avoid.

Cheri charity shops, we have 8 on our small Dorset town high street, it's big business. But I agree the prices are high, maybe that's why we have so many carboots round here, because people now sell their stuff rather than give it to charity ?

Right what does Sunday hold for me ?
