  • Hi Pols

Hope you have a better time this weekend and don't take his behaviour to heart as it isn't a reflection on you.

Not been on here for a while as have been busy busy busy at work and not really had much time at home either.

Things with WLM seem to be going OK. Had a really nice time out with him on Friday. Going out this Saturday too so looking forward to that.

    Quick update on everything else:-

Have fallen off the DFW wagon in a BIG way. I seem to have been a bit overzealous earlier in the month and paid too much off which has left me short as I haven't had any maintenance for the last 2 weeks. I really should learn not to rely on it!! It should go in tomorrow but i am expecting a booking form from the holiday club / after school club to appear in my inbox any day and that will be a huge chunk of my money gone.

Have decided that it just will not be possible to get DD's bedroom decorated in time for Xmas. She has said she doesn't mind and I will assure her that it will get done but financially it is just not possible in this timeframe.

Am plodding on with the OnePoll - am up to £3.85/£40. Also joined PineCone and have completed one survey and received £3 Luncheon Vouchers for my trouble - not bad for 20 minutes work! I have never ever had luncheon vouchers before, not from any company I have worked for and they are accepted in loads of places!

Not been running at all this week as I have had to work a couple of lunch hours in order that I can go to DD's harvest festival tomorrow morning. Just as well because my trainers really have almost had it. I am start to run wonky :rotfl:. Mum has said that for an early xmas present from her and dad they will get me some new ones.

Pole classes are going great. We have a new venue and the poles are 15 feet high - scary stuff. It is exhausting in itself just getting to the top and then we have to try to turn ourselves upside down! I managed it first go, which is no mean feat considering we usually turn ourselves upside down by pushing off the floor - this is much harder, really makes out stomach muscles work. Incredibly I feel really secure up there even with no hands :) The pictures are fab and I am really proud of myself for doing it.

I think that's everything for now. Need to catch up with the others :)

You can use Luncheon Vouchers in Asda but expect lots of hassle. You can also clicky on the P!necone site and be paid into a Paypal account which can then be transferred to your bank account when you reach £7 providing you haven't spent it on flea-bay first!

Wow that sounds amazing, I'd love to be able to do something like that. I really want to go to exercise classes but as usual lack of money is stopping me.

there are always gonna be times where some bits are good and some bits are not so good. keep your head together over the bad stuff and enjoy the good. i have been in my place nearly seven years and still not decorated either bedroom but we regularly rearrange the room to make it look a bit different each time.

well done with the poles. i never quite did manage to climb them! sadly, my ceilings are only 7ft ish so having one at home wouldn't even help me much.

hope the good stuff continues to stay good and the bad stuff sorts itself out xxx

Well I have spent most of the afternoon on here reading various diaries and am feeling much more positive about the money situation. I have done stacks of surveys, requested numerous freebies and entered several competitions.

I have £27 left in my grocery account for this week so i will need to be quite clever with the food shopping this week (I appreciate that this amount must seem loads for others but since my shopping has come out at around £45 for the last 3 weeks I am going to feel the pinch a bit!)

Also I am having my hair done on saturday. It really really needs doing. It was last cut in July. I've had the fringe done a few times (my hairdresser will do it for free so long as I go back to them for a proper cut & blowdry) however I think I would be pushing my luck going back yet again and not booking a C & BD. I even trimmed the fringe myself last week and actually did a pretty good job so maybe this can help me save a bit of money too - it def needs doing properly this week though as I am out Saturday and want to look nice.

Going to pop over to one of the budget meals threads in a bit to get inspiration for next weeks menus.....

I always do my fringe myself:T I don't like hairdressers doing it...had a bad experience with a very short fringe cut in my teens and have hated it ever since:rotfl:
Sure your hair's not that bad - mine hasn't been cut since April...it was a long bob then, but is just a mess now - I'm hanging on til half term, not long now!
I really need to sort out a new signature!

    Hi Poles,
I am just catching up and a wanted to say Hi.
Glad this weekend was better for you. Somebody mentioned the word baggage earlier. I guess that when you get into a relationship with somebody who has a past that will always come along. It is nice that he feels comfortable to share these things with you and that you can be there to listen. I agree that if I felt that poorly I might not even have made the date so at least he made the effort to get there in the first place.
It is a shame that you cannot manage to do the bedroom. Is there anyway that you could do something in there to change the look without spending money. For example - can you paint any of the furniture with some left over paint. Could you print off some pictures from the internet and put them into some frames that you have (can ask for from freecycle). Do you know anybody who might have a stash of curtains that you could swap/barter for. Freecycle might throw up somebody who has excess tins of paint that you could use to paint the walls. I am sure that you could get creative and do some lovely things. What colour/style does your DD like? Can any of us who read your diary help out. After all we all seem to be on the declutter wagon at the moment.

Thanks Cheri for all the suggestions. I basically do need to get her a carpet because at the moment there is laminate down that the previous owner put in. I don't actually think the whole room will cost more than £350 altogether, I just need the time to save up. If Xmas wasn't round the corner it would be easy!

I don't want to get rid of her curtains. They are beautiful and I got them in the sale in Laura Ashley a couple of years ago. I'm hoping that whatever I end up doing the room like it will grow with her as she becomes a teenager (eek!) and all I would need to change in future would be the bedding (and eventually the curtains but then I might have them then ;))

Oh I know what you mean about having curtains that you love. I would definitely be designing her room around them then. I am also a believer in waiting until you can get just what you want and making do until that time. My friends will testify to that because in my first ever home I kept up some really awful brown flowery 1970s curtains that didnt match any of my decor because I knew exactly what I wanted. I knew that if I got a make do until pair then I would never reach the until bit. It worked and made me save even harder because every time I came home and saw them I put all of the days loose change in the piggy bank on the shelf next to the window with them on! I am sure that your daughter will understand and, if nothing else she will learn that it can be exciting to anticipate something and save for it. I think that is what a lot of people have lost sight of, enjoying the feeling of anticipation.
