  • Well just got my last assignment back from tutor, I'm not over the moon, you know when you think you've got it and actually it's way off the mark. Oh well, get the ECA in and forget about it, I don't think I'm going to be a psycologist.

Am really tired this week. I have nothing more planned than a foodie night on the telly. Early night and tomorrow a day 'off' - I get to start the bathroom, (or really finish it ?) It has been ongoing for a year. Throw in some serious back of envelope calculations re budget, and pile of ironing. Will take a break to catch up with my wonderful Mum for lunch.

    Now what's for dinner ?

  • Good afternoon
Spent the morning with the financial calculations and a new snowball - new DFD is Feb 2014 with current situation. Owe £25k, have to remind myself that I did owe nearer to £40k in 2006.
Lovely lunch, a bit of paint scraping, little bit of ironing, watched a terrible film while doing so.

Have taken the job search advice on board. I see something that has a job title that has me shrugging in ignorance, then look at the job description and think well I could do that actually. I have this mental block that says oh you can't apply for that you are not 'allowed', so I'm dropping that attitude.

Got to catch up with you all...

hi DC apparently a bloke will apply for a job if he meets half to two-thirds of the spec - most women apply at nearer 90-100% match. Blokes stilll get jobs so..... something to think about...

I did an exercise in a pub with a friend - where I worked out what ideal things I wanted in a job - I came home and found the advert for the job I am now in...

Great decision DC. Next time you think that then remember that experiment that I told you about and what SH has said. That should motivate you. You have as much right as anybody else to do those jobs. In fact, in my experience, the people who do apply for the higher jobs usually just get other people to do it for them once they get it.
Would this link be of any use to you to give you something to think about http://content.monster.ie/tools/quizzes/perfectcareer/ I think it takes the quiz from something called the Myers Briggs test which is a good indicator of the kind of personality you have which means that you can then consider how that would fit with a job.

If you could do ANYTHING what would it be? What did you want to be when you were 10 years old?

Good question - My answer? I wanted to be a dinner lady, and dish out the helpings.

I know that feeling well, I now look at the person spec for the job and decide if I meet the skills, rather than the job title.

Also hypno is so right. I somehow went from nursing to local government, and ended up in IT. Part of me still wants to do something with crafts, but not sure what. There is something there for you, its just looking around you.
