I appreciate that at this time of year your many subjects desire a warm corner in a dwelling of a human. I am writing to request that could you please make it known amongst your kind that my house is not suitable for this activity.
Last night one of your - shall we say 'senior' members decided to wander in halfway through Coronation Street and made himself comfortable on my sofa.
Upon seeing this I broke out in a cold sweat, started shaking and emitted a cat like scream. My 13 year old son copied my actions, and grabbed a broom, what for I don't know. What followed for the next 20 minutes was a turfing over of sofa cushions, the summoning of a reluctant 16 year old armed with a tupperware pot and his GCSE certificates. Mad dog also got involved but 8 legs are faster than 4.
The spider in question had well developed calf muscles, a suitcase and change of address cards. He has been evicted, but please no more....

Further to the above letter,
Dear King of Spiders,
I too understand that your brethen need a warm place to call home, but would also point out that my house is alas not suitable and is indeed dangerous for your kind due to our TWO Spider eating hoovers.
I am sad to say that upon the arrival of a huge subject in my bedroom (and not the huge subject a girl can but dream of) I made haste downstairs to ajourn to the sofa for a my night's rest. It was with horror I realised another subject (admittedly not so impressively huge, but still sizable) had taken up residence in the corner wall of the hall. Far too near the sofa for my liking.
My noise (read shriek) awoke my long suffering mother who bravely despatched of said subject with the hoover.
I apologise for the loss of one of your subjects but feel you should now warn all spiders to stay away from my house.
The huge one in my bedroom was last seen in the living room* I hope making his/her way to the outside.
Yours sincerely
Buffy
who can deal with vampires, demons and any undead problems....its just spiders that cause me to be completely irrational!
* it had better be the same one if he/she has a twin I am moving out!
Dear DC & Buffy
Thank you for your correspondence.
Whilst considering the points raised in your letters, I have temporarily moved to Bear Towers, the home of Honeybear. I'm currently lodging behind the bookcase.
I'm afraid I can't understand your lack of hospitality to my brethen, many of whom are in therapy to deal with their dread of the hoover, as this is the most feared element of any spiders life.
However, I will endeavour to pass on the word that neither of your dwellings are suitable for a long-term spider house.
Best Wishes

Good Morning
I really really wanted to watch Jamie at 10pm last night but gave in to the land of nod at 9.30 halfway through Dragons Den.
8 hours later feel much better ready for a terrific Tuesday. DS2 is fine, just a case of school being very careful when it comes to accidents, for which I'm grateful.
Is payday :T.
Cheri, FB - that is exactly my problem, I think I have 2 or 3 close friends and we don't use FB for communication, the rest of it really is banal.
KoS -Thank you for your response. If HB's house is your choice of residency I think it only fair to point out that you really should avoid the honey pot, the consequences would be worse than my hoover..
SH - today another deep delve into the world of the jobsites...they don't know whats going to hit themThey will be fighting over me !

Afternoon, I am on go slow today. Good luck with the job hunting. Have you done your perfect week exercise from MGs thread? If not I would suggest that as a good way to spend some time before looking for jobs, you might surprise yourself and end up looking for something completely different. If you could do ANYTHING what would it be? What did you want to be when you were 10 years old? Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Morning
Oh I wish I could answer that question Cheri.....some deep thought needed there. Todays local paper has jobs in pubs, as driving instructors or carers. I really can't do any of those.
Hoping that someone posts my perfect job later today on one of the jobsites.DC.

The perfect job IS out there for you - you perhaps don't even know what job it is.
When I decided to have a break from stockbroking, I found myself absolutely determined to do reflexology and hypnotherapy as a career. Why? Who knows? I had never had anything like these things as a treatment before, and knew nothing about them. But they caught my eye as I was doing random googling stuff, and before I knew it, I was signing up for courses as the local college and uni!
OK, so I no longer do it for a living, but I have a very enjoyable hobby out of it as a result. And even now, I have no idea what it was that drew me to it in the first place!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Morning, I agree totally Hypno. Often people come to their perfect job quite by accident. I also trained in aromatherapy and did that for a while and I have no idea what that was about. I have also managed pubs and been an !!!!!!!! agent. Loved them all but not necessarily what I wanted to do forever.
DC maybe if you stop focusing on the "need" to get another job as you are unhappy in your current one perhaps you should start just taking a look at all kinds of things that you would normally dismiss out of hand. The job I am in currently is one that I would never have considered previously, the wage and the title alone would have stopped me from looking any further. However I had started to look at the job descriptions without looking at the wages and thought that if I liked the sound of something then I would have a go. You will have loads of skills that can be diverted but you just need to recognise that.
There was an experiment in Australia once, they placed 2 job adverts for the same job. One of the adverts called the job an executive and had a high wage, the other said admin and had a lower wage. They had over 200 applicants for the lower wage and only 10 for the higher. When they sifted the applications they discovered that more people in the lower bracket applications were suitable for the role than the higher bracket. The moral of the story was that people undervalue themselves, allow themselves to be put off by fancy titles and dont read further into things. Go on give it a go you might surprise yourself. It is hard to move out of your comfort zone but once you do you will be amazed how much more you want to do it.
Also if you dont know what you want to do then write down a perfect day, what would you be doing on your perfect day. If you like post it up here and we could have a look and might be able to make suggestions for jobs that you would never have thought of.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Just posted a reply to you on my thread. But I wanted to pop back over and put a bit of it in here because it relates to the above questions. You said on mine that you liked the Tony Robbins quote and you especially like his raising standards. Maybe this one is suitable for you at the moment.
“You are now at a crossroads. This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don't think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully.”Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Yes Cheri I do have to shake it all out....I don't want to be one of those people that sits around waiting for something to happen, got to make it happen.DC.
