    Trying to think about what you're saying. Maybe cutting out carbs is probably good for weight loss.
    I'm having trouble putting on weight, but must confess that if I think about it, my "natural" diet (i.e. what I eat if I don't think about it)consists of protein, veg, chocolate and sweets, but not many plain carbs.

    Whenever I've cut carbs before it's been to drop weight, fast! But now I just don't want to eat it because of the effect it has on the body, especially mine as I feel the effect quite a bit.

    Cattkitt - Maybe introducing carbs would help you gain weight, but might make you feel tired, irritable and sluggish.

    Modern bread is bad for you.

    A few months ago on bbc 4 there was a documentary forgot the name.

    Bit of a history on bread, it's the bread from the late 30's early 40's which is better.. a lot better, although didn't taste great.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00rm508 (remembered the name)

    unfortunately it cannot be watched on bbc iplayer, but was interested in it to watch the whole program, there is a shop in London who specialise in the old bread, i am sure some one will know the shop, either veggie or vegan shop, and they have been going since the sixties i think.

    I dont eat bread now. I get terrible pains if I do so its not worth it. I dont eat many carbs at all really. I have lost 11kg in the last 9mths through this but I stopped the bread because of the pain not the weight loss.

    It just makes it hard when going out for the day and being an MSEr I try to take packed lunches rather than buying stuff out. Its hard to prepare stuff and a sandwhich is easier but not worth the pain for me!!!

    That of course is the best reason to remove something from your diet. I too have gradually cut out food groups - which is not actually the wisest thing; one reason being that eliminiation of an entire food group can mean that if you eat something occasinally, then your body will treat it as poison - hence the best way to follow a BALANCED diet...
    ...Having said that - OK, I'm not sure if chocolate is a food group - but I have now decided to cut that out

    :eek::eek::eek:

    - reason being that after eating a few squares on Sunday, the rest of the day was a write-foff. I felt absolutely dreadful (shan't go into detail) - and when I felt better (hours later) research led me to finding out that a reaction to an ingredient in chocolate can be the cause (thebromine or some such); it is that which causes dogs to be ill (and sometimes die) after eating human chocolate.

    Be careful what you read and how you act on it as there is such a lot of stuff out there. I developed a severe (psychological) problem with food and ended up about size 4 and felt shocking.

    A size 4, wow, I definatley don't want to be that small.. although a size 12 would be much better than the size 20 I am.. :(

    I think I've just finally decided that feeling crappy and being overweight is not worth eating bread for..

    After my husband's sudden death, I lost a couple of stone in about as many months. Not really losing any more, as I have a very good and very frightening friend who has whooped my a** about it. :rotfl:
