    all the above...

and risotto (loads of recipes in Jamie's latest book - straightforward and very yummy)

frittata - if doing just for one, then use a small frying pan. Gently fry some sliced courgettes (however many you want) until very soft, but not too coloured. I also usually add some onions, too. Meanwhile, beat 3 eggs, and add in a twist of black pepper + a handful of whatever cheese you've got in.
Once the veggies are soft, turn the heat down as low as poss, and add a knob of butter and the beaten eggs. Cook until set but still a little runny on top. Then whack under the grill for a minute or two until the top's set + browned. Then - eat! :D This is also good cold, and keeps well in the fridge for a couple of days.

i have had toothache for about a week, now on antibiotics and painkillers this has made me feel a bit nauseated

i havent been eating much, only very soft food like thin soup, mashed potato and egg.

    i am quite hungry now

what else can i eat without chewing, which wont make me feel ill with the medication?

Ahha, been there, done that, got the tooth extracted after 3 weeks of barely being able to eat!

Try rice pudding, Farley's rusks (Yes the baby bisuits, I eat these dry anyway :o) mushed with a bit of milk (especially good with flavoured milk). Those smart price noodles are very easy to get down, and jelly is good as it does make you feel full. Also things like tinned baked beans and spaghetti work as they don't really require chewing as they are both small and soft.

Good luck, I remember how much hell it is when that happens. I became so desperate I resorted to slimfast milkshakes because I needed to stop feeling hungry - my doc was not amused!

  • I am in the same state as you but haven't been able to see the dentist yet. Been in pain since friday and have an 'emergency' appt on Wed.

I have been living on porridge and scrambled eggs though obviously not together :rotfl::rotfl:. The porridge at least fills me up. I am also drinking fruit juice and tomato juice through a straw to avoid it hitting my teeth.

Hope you feel better soon hon

still suffering, infection needed more antibiotics, still eating without chewing, resorted to chewing small mouthfuls between front teeth as this doesnt affect the other teeth but its difficult, also prescribed even stronger painkillers, this has gone on for weeks now, fed up.

    Poor you!

Cous cous is nice and soft and it's almost instant. Rice and gravy is weird but nice.

Stewed apple and greek yoghurt is one of my favourites. Could drizzle with honey.

    How about making a smoothie?
  • I had to eat mush for a week after the dentist too.
    I survived on Cauliflower cheese,
    soup,
    mashed potato,
    scrambled eggs,
    yoghurt,
    chocolate mousse,
    trifle,
banana custard and rice, it all sounds fattening but I lost half a stone yeahhhhhhhh!:T
Might try this again methinks cos I need to lose a bit more weight.:rotfl:

Sorry for those of you with a poorly mouth x. My dad has recently been having treatment for a very poorly throat, so has been on soft foods since before Christmas. He is also trying to get as many calories as possible so is relying a lot on ice cream and puds! The main problem for my dad is that his tastebuds are all messed up so he struggles to find anything he fancies :( He is rather conservative about his food too.

Some of the things he has been eating are:
    Porridge
Sausages cut up and mixed into mashed potato with soft cooked veg
Roasted veggies (you could do a more elegant "ratatouille" ;) )
Sandwiches with soft fresh bread and soft fillings like pates, egg mayo, tuna mayo, etc. Try chopping tomatoes and onions up very small and popping those in there too.
Tinned tomatoes, eggs and soft fresh buttered bread.
Stews and broth, altho with this weather you might prefer lighter soups.
    Rice pud, semolina.
    Mousse
    Ice cream
Very soft-cooked pasta might also be a good idea.
Love and compassion to all x

Risotto? Rice? Surely one of the last things you want to eat! A partially cooked grain of rice lodging in your open wounds is not a great idea.

If you want to keep it balanced then dice some onions, courgettes, spuds, carrots and cover with olive oil and roast with garlic. Tasty and if done for long enough even the carrots will be soft.
