OK, aside from the fact that the past 5 times I have ordered from approved foods there have been several mistakes with every order
I'd never had a problem with AF until recently. Previous order had wrong items despite the pick note being correct and split bags. Current order, the courier retained one of the boxes because it was leaking and didn't deliver it to me, but AF has no record of this and it's taken a fair amount of time for them to respond to the ticket.

    I doubt I'll order again.

I got my first order on Thursday - everything correct and nothing broken but what I was bothered about was some of the tins of tomato puree have rust on the bottom - not on the actual lid but the rim, have opened one tin and checked it out, it seems ok and have now frozen the contents.

Also annoyed as I thought they put every ingredient down but I was wrong I am badly allergic to paprika and found the cous cous ( 12 packs with tomato and Mediterranean herbs - guess in one way not their fault as not mentioned on the front of pack but buried in the ingredients, but really as they are only on-line I do think they should show back of pack as well as front) has paprika as a colour so not sure who I can give it to ( most of my friends are plain food people and food bank will not touch it as date is June 2012 ( not something that I was bothered by as I use plain cous cous well past its best before date). Hubby will eat it now and again but not a lover it was more for me.

Not happy also that quite a few of the cans had dents in them. If I buy a tin I like it to be perfect then if at home a tin gets dented, I tend to drop things a lot at least I know for how long its been dented and will use it up quickly.

Glass bottles I cannot complain about each one was wrapped and selo-taped with bubble wrap - so perfect care taken of them.

This was my first order ( only did so as it was free delivery to see if it was worth while) but likely to be my last. I will stick to shops where I can see ALL the ingrediants and can check no dents.

Got to admit I didn't realise just how big the vegetable suet packs would be so both are now bagged up and in the freezer as they are going to take me a long time to use them although friends willing to have some.

  • prepareathome its a shame you were disappointed with your first order, as im trying to lose weight, i usually google any items im not sure about for ingredients or nutrition, though you cant always do this if its deidentified. I know showing the back of the pack was something discussed a while back on the forum and a good idea in my opinion, as im sure im not the only one googling ingredients. While i have no problem of eating food past its date (i recently had readymade slimfast Aug 10 hiding in with my later dated ones), I do really worry about dented tins, though i have not personally had any from them.

I received my first order today and I am very happy with it. All items arrived and were well wrapped so no brakes or leaks.

If you contact them and explain the situation - that you are allergic or unable to consume an ingredient which was not labelled on front of pack then I think they would do their best to remedy things.

I have had two replacements for glass jars which broke last week and they were very efficient and replaced stuff at no extra cost to me.

I have really pleased with what I got and it is a shame you feel disappointed.

If it was just the paprika in the cous cous it wouldn't be so bad but the rusty rim of the tomato purees and 10 of the tins being bashed is just much to accept - have decanted the tomato puree -freezer now full as I bought 6 850g tins as only planned to open one at a time, not all 6 at once - just thankful I had the space, and its ok inside tin, wasn't rusted thankfully but dented tins I have put to one side not had a chance yet to check inside. For the money with these things I didn't gain, I didn't lose but have no confidence in them as a company.

It was a trial run with the free delivery but will leave it down to experience.

    Thanks

Has anyone else got any naan bread? If so how are you planning on using it? I'm doing a curry tonight and might do naan bread pizza tomorrow but I'm stuck after that.

i've just unpacked my 1st order after tacking advantage of the recent delivery offer for new customers and have to say I've been impressed with the the service. Everything was intact, very well packaged and delivery was exactly when they said it would be.

I can see us ordering once or twice a year to take advantage of the bargains on offer. Don't think I'll need to buy cous cous or tomato puree for a VERY, very long time however!!!

  • The lucky dip boxes are back. Also a good deal at the moment, £5 postage for up to 50kg. I wasn't going to order anything else for a few months but there are some decent toiletries offers and the 50kg limit meant I could stock up on tins and drinks as well.
  • I've run out of kitchen cupboard space. As I live in a flat, that represents a storage problem, oooops! :D
