Only useful to those who are making an order anyway, given postal costs, but these can be great value depending what gets put in them.

The big 3kg packs of quality pasta are now £2. 99. I would be tempted myself but as I still have 3 left from last year I need to up my consumption before i buy more. Useful if you want to make the most of the free shipping.

I think this exemplifies Approved Food perfectly unfortunately. Initially I was completely suckered in by the alleged RRP prices and their prices.

Admittedley when I first purchased off them last year they did have some genuine bargains. However recently I have been dutifully filling my basket up, sucked in by the apparently huge savings over RRP prices. Then seen how much it all costs with delivery and thought - "Hmm, will just check the prices against supermarkets that sell the same items, in date".

And every time I have thought it just isn't worth it.

The pasta is an excellent comparison. RRP of £7.99 for 3 KG - Long Date! - down to £2.99 - what a saving.

I bought a 500G bag of dried Penne from Aldi earlier today with - Long Date! - it was 55p.

That works out at £3.30 for 3KG.

Personally all dried Penne, Lasagne sheets and Spaghetti I have ever bought all tastes the same to me - maybe I am not a connoisseur of dried pasta!

I think if you are a Chinese or Thai restaurant / takeaway they are great with their deals on Thai Green Curry paste and Soy sauce. For the private buyer I think they have lost the plot and can't see myself ordering from them any time soon.

A good idea but they got greedy IMO.

Added to that out of the 9 orders I have made half of them have either been missing the main "bargains" I put the order in for i.e. case of 24 soda water and tonic water that they were selling for 99p - didn't turn up. And also damaged parcels, flat drinks, open "sealed for freshness" items like crisps.

I think DPD are just as liable and a useless delivery company. Am going to unsubscribe AF from the constant emails they send me I think.

I think this pasta is really much nicer than the 'market value ' you could get for the same price, but if it makes no difference to you, then I see your point. I think the texture is better additional doesn't fall apart and go mushy. I got my big bags when they had gone down to £1. 99.
I think with dpd it is very dependent on your local depot. I find their text system works really well and I like knowing which hour of the day they are coming.

I find the delivery service excellent too. I'm not planning on placing any orders any time soon though either. I'm finding my kitchen has got so much more cluttered and some things just hang around and are unused. I'm currently having a good turn out and lots of stuff is getting chucked. The family has got a bit porkier too last year and that is partly due to the approved food orders. So many of the goodies are unhealthy 'treats' 'extras' and so even though often cheap they are unnecessary and so more money is spent rather than money saved and we are getting unhealthy in the process. I'm sure I will still take a peak now and then but will try to think logically before placing an order.
