ive still not bought into the concept of approved foods. there are countless poundshops in glasgow which sell similar items but that are in date and even shopping in the value range products at tesco, asda etc still seems better value0

I buy stuff in the pound shop, but carrying it from the city centre is a pain for things like drinks- and I couldn't get 12 nice cranberry juice drinks for £1.50 as I can on af.
I'm not a snob about value range products either- but from af I get organic and top of the range stuff for less than I would pay for cheap stuff in Asda.
I agree that lots of the stuff is only average value. The cleaning stuff for instance leaves me cold- but when they have some mega bargains it can't be beaten.
Today for instance,I used up the last of my Lloyd grossman 2kg tomato and chilli sauces. They were 2 for 99p a while back- I wish I had bought more. I bulk cooked some veg and bacon and with some extra tomatoes too to make some 'ready meals' for my kids packed lunches. Unbeatable quality for that price- there were 20 portions in a bottle.
So my advice would be just to checkout the new lines section when you can and one day the bargain for you may come up...but you do need a bit of storage space.0 -

I really really wish they'd put the ingredients on the site, especially with the deidentified stuff which I can't google. I've wasted £'s in the past because cous cous has got milk in it or something and I've given it away. So now I don't order anything I feel doubts about.0 -
Has anyone else tried big brands for less http://www.bigbrandsforless.co.uk/, same type of stuff. Last week they were doing 200% extra free. Unfortunately I got so excited I didn't use my full 29kg allowance but did get 30, tins beans, 30 tins soup, 30 stir fry sauce jars, 3 jars pickled onions & 10.5kg scone mix, £10.25 with delivery.
thanks for the link, I'm having fun browsing and there seems to be plenty off poundshop odds & ends to get my moneysworth from the delivery charge, which seems to be the same as A F charges. - I'm tempted by SPAGHETTI HOOP 2.87KG
Price: £0.40

Does anyone buy stuff on approved food for juicing and making smoothies etc. I'd like to get into it. Would the canned fruit work well? Any advice/recipes would be appreciated. So much on approved food is snacky carp, which we love:o but will be seriously unheathy if I keep buying it.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

If you choose what you buy it can be a huge saving, the bread mix recently, 3.5kg for 89p, makes 13x1lb loaves or or over 100 rolls. I bought loads of this & Hovis bread flour, I don't like shop bread, but the bread mix is lovely.
If you buy cases of stuff that you know you will use, then it really does make it cheaper even than pound shops, I love them too.
The 2kg soups & sauce mixes have been great value & really good.
I would like them now to get in cases of tinned tomotoes for a quid a case.chalkysoil wrote: »thanks for the link, I'm having fun browsing and there seems to be plenty off poundshop odds & ends to get my moneysworth from the delivery charge, which seems to be the same as A F charges. - I'm tempted by SPAGHETTI HOOP 2.87KG

I'm not too sure what anyone would do with that amount of spaghetti hoops, that's approx 6 large cans isn't it? I wonder if they would freeze.
Not that I would buy them as I don't like them but for anyone who has children going through a hoops stage it would be great.0 -

Thanks for the link, hermum. I've just had a look and of course am getting tempted but I'm finding it harder to understand than AF. (Maybe it's the time of night).
What does it mean when it says, for instance, 6x£1.00 Super Noodles price £1.00 saving £3.68 [STRIKE]RRP £4.68[/STRIKE]
Does this mean you get six packets for a pound?
Sorry to be thick!
P.S. If I've got it right, the flour is effectively under 10p a bag!Miggy

Yes that's right you get 6 pots for £1. I missed out as I had ordered them at 30p a pot but I did get a pot thrown in for free!! I can say I am really pleased with their service. Quick delivery and everything is packed very well.
ETA: This is what you are asking about?
