That isnt how their ordering system works. The items in your order will have been reserved for you , and so cannot be ordered by others in the time between when you order and when they are picked.

Not sure this is true as I have purchased items in the past which were successfully added to my basket and paid for but not delivered with the order but marked 'out of stock' on the despatch note. The money for the items was credited to my account but it was a little annoying, as of course I had expected to receive the item and very annoying that I had effectively paid for delivery of that item (I always shop to the max of the weight allowance/band to make it worthwhile).

That would only be because the computer had an incorrect value for the stock holding when you made your order. Once your order is placed the stock available for other customers is reduced.

Either way, it shows that information on the site cannot be trusted. Surely, the computer should not show an incorrect stock holding. I believed I had purchased something, I paid for it, but then it was not delivered. It did not matter to me why the system allowed me to do this - just that it did!!! So, as I said, just because you add an item to your basket, checkout and pay for that item, do not rely on receiving it.

You have obviously never worked in a warehouse / shop. The computer can show incorrect stock quantities for any number of reasons. For a warehouse the most normal reason is the incorrect /miskeying of booking in stock as it arrives from the suppliers - or staff theft
Same with any other retail operation - Approved Food are no different than anyone else.

It depends very much on what delivery service your delivery comes from. AF use several different ones . If you are lucky and you get DPD it wil be fine - You get a "real-time" tracking service that shows a map with exactly where the van is , and when it is expected to arrive at your door..
If you get someone else such as "UK mail" then its a random "your parcel will arive at some time this morning".

AF themselves are great - If something arrives broken , or there is something missing just send them a message and it will normally be refunded straight away. Never had any problems with them over past 3 or 4 years

I haven't ordered from AF for ages due to delivery problems - I'm single & work in a school so my time off is set in stone & there isn't anyone else who can take delivery for me. As I'm off on summer hols I can be more flexible, so I put in an order last week & received a text today giving me half an hours notice of my one hour delivery slot.

Luckily I happen to be at home, but is this short notice common? The text was from UK mail - who actually arrived halfway through this post, & the drivers seem surprised that I'd had any notice at all
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

Well it looks like UK Mail are improving ;) - last time I had an Approved food parcel from them, they sent an email with the delivery time AFTER the delivery
  • Guess I should just be glad that it turned up then!

The AF order is correct & beautifully packed, as always & I'm looking forward to making the salted caramel cupcakes - but I probably won't use them again until Xmas as it was only an injury to me that is keeping me at home today.

If I'm going to be paying a £7.50 delivery charge then I expect it to arrive at a time that's convenient to me :D

I have only just discovered this site after reading about it in Saturday's paper-it looks great! The problem I can see is delivery as there is no one at home 8-3.do goods need to be signed for or could I ask that they leave delivery in porch??

i asked them to do this in the notes on my order but left a signed note on my door saying that was ok. we always had the same driver and knew him so he didnt mind doing that. whether they are all that adaptable i dont know

maybe contact approved foods and ask them if its doable
