It was cheaper than both my quotes from B&Q and homebase by around 15% and they gave me 18mm solid units soft close where at B&Q it was like thin chipboard rubbish. The designer was courteous and professional and was certainly trained! The fitters are now their own fitters and your contract is with Tesco and no one else. I had a direct line to my project manager 7 days a week and she was great! Can't thank you enough. Keep up the good work guys. It makes me think these nasty reviews on here are worried competitors! I had a quote before Christmas - it included free fitting & a dishwasher - and was very competitive. The person visiting to measure & quote was very lax in getting back to me and eventually in January said they could not fit as I had a free standing cooker at the end of the run which was near my back door and it contravened helath & safety. No other quotes or suppliers have said this. Price is not everything . . . . I think I will be using a local firm.

Tesco used a Bolton-based contractor which operates on a 40% profit margin, and of course Tesco will take a margin from this contractor which trades on their Tesco name. Tesco customer services never replied to my last letter about mis-selling, probably because they are embarrassed by the whole saga. I doubt we will hear anything further.

We feel completely shafted on this one. Unable to pursue mis-selling in court because it is our word against theirs. Our advice is to avoid Tesco kitchens as far as possible, and employ a local fitter with a good reputation.

Tesco Kitchen claim 'reassurance built in'. This is a lie.

Not only is the service appalling, the products are outdated, cheap looking and the installation of what should be an integrated and seamless kitchen is of very poor quality, ugly and extremely expensive for what you are getting.

My experience has been this:

The project manager who was supposed to manage the whole job, was totally incompetent - sent the wrong order so half the delivery was wrong, was never available, wouldn't call back, lied about calling back once I get through to her (calling her whilst overseas), couldn't relay the correct information to the fitter or the delivery team and was just a nightmare to deal with.

The kitchen fitter was just as sloppy. He apparently was stunned that in London parking is both required for a job like this and is expensive. Refused to show up on the day the delivery was scheduled and the installation was supposed to start because he didn't want to pay for his parking.

He had quoted 3 - 5 days to fit my very small kitchen then doesn't bother showing up on the first day. Then proceeds to work only 3 hours (max) a day. Doesn't check the order, which further delays the fitting, leaves a mess everywhere and if it hadn't been for the builders onsite (in no way associated with Tesco), the Tesco fitter would have not corrected a huge plumbing mistake he made.

He didn't fit the work bench correctly so it rises where the 'L' shape meets - right near the sink (of course this means water will seep into this and ruin the work bench). The cupboards are not alined so some stick out more than others. the cupboard doors are not properly fitted so one end is longer than the other. The washing machine is fitted at an angle so the door juts out (no contingency for when the machine will be on and in spin mode. I anticipate the cupboard door eventually coming off). There was no consideration given to the inbuilt bin so now it can't be fitted as it hits the waste pipes under the sink. And the heat protectors on the sides of the oven are so long they reach the floors and jut out so the whole seamless look in not achieved.

He doesn't check his work either. And has taken 14 days for a maximum 5 day job.

The Tesco delivery team apparently are illiterate. Reading an order is just too taxing. So a delivery of items trickles in, rather than everything being delivered at the same time. It's not difficult, it's just a matter reading the order form but one has to know how to read for that to happen.

The company employees also don't talk to relay information so despite telling the delivery team and project manager that the delivery can't happen before 9.30am, they still manage to repeatedly delivery at 7.30am. Don't understand how basic time telling or understanding is so difficult.

The only good thing, the kitchen designer/sales man is good at his job and a big help trying to resolve some of the problems. Of course problems created by the fitter still need to be addressed.

Overall, buying a Tesco kitchen is both much too expensive for what you get and the headache is not worth it. The products are ugly and outdated, the team is useless and the fitter both incompetent and lazy.

If you are in the market for a new kitchen, DON'T go with Tesco.

i have recently had a tesco kitchen installed (the genoa) its beautiful. Tesco orinally started off quoting £11.5K for my averaged sized space i haggled and thought i'd done really well getting the price down to £7.5 K I paid tesco a deposit and got booked in,until i saw on a review forum that a company called cut price kitchens use exactly the same kitchens. Both tesco and cut price just sell the same kitchen the actual supplier and distributer is mark 2. I rang cut price kitchens and they verified that yes indeed mark 2 distribute their kitchens it wasnt called the genoa they called it the glacier, i got them to price up my kitchen haggled a bit and the exact same kitchen through cut price kitchens would have cost £4.5 K. Admitidly tescos did include the dry fit ....so just the units no plumbing electrics gas etc but nethertheless a £3K difference was unbelivable. Anyway I rang tesco to cancel the order and insist on my deposit back this was agreed. However within hours of cancelling my order tesco called me back agreed to price match cut price kitchens and throw in a free dishwasher plus tripple clubcard points. So i stuck with tesco in the end. Oginally tesco said they dont do supply only but when they realised they would loose the order they clearly changed their mind. So I now have a stunning kitchen that i am very happy with ....just watch tesco and their prices clearly their 'every little helps' ethos doesnt apply to their kitchens ! so although i used tesco i would rather have gone straight to cut price kitchens, they were incredibly helpful and i wouldnt hesitate to use them !

So you went back to Tescos for the clubcard points then...despite that they tried to rip you off in the first place.... but hey every little helps;). Either way it sounds like you got a good deal in the end. Small consalation to Cut Price Kitchens is that they get thanks on a website instead of an order though.

Just goes to show what a good deal Tesco's free fitting is...not!
