  • Good question Macman, who actually makes their kitchens....Also where is the product knowledge? I mean although its under the Tesco's banner do you get put through to Wickes,Howdens or Magnet?..............IMO Tescos sell food and should concentrate on that , bit like Everest Double glazing suddenly start selling kicthens, the advert makes me laugh as I would love to do a "Factory Tour " and see their so called workshop thats in the advert....

Can't wait for the day when no other shops exist because Tesco have put them all out of business! If you don't believe it will happen visit Inverness where Tesco has been the kiss of death there! Why can't supermarkets just sell food and leave every one else to do what they're good at!

I agree, locally Tesco bought the "Rights" to a pub and row of houses with a view to buying the land behind for a new store.
Sainsbury bought the building site and shafted Tesco,s (nice one Sainsburys).......

Now Tesco's are putting in a planning aplication on the site they don't even own(perfectly legal) for some reason, bad losers Tesco's...
  • just having 'Tesco' kitchen fitted, had quite a few issues, the problem is there are too many companies involved and they don't communicate with each other. Tesco just give it their name, fitting is done by a local fitter subcontracted via Retail Installation Services but delivery is made by Mark Two. We are working on our complaint as really had enough. Can't find out who manages Tesco Kitchens though - we like to write to the top person, that usually gets results.

The use of ".." to break up loosely connected bursts of type should be banned. :D

Except that Tesco are very good at what they do. If they just sold groceries they would not be supermarkets they would just be grocers shops.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
  • Yep we had issues too! The local fitter didn't do a great job on the floor tiles and after 5 months we have still not recieved the electrical testing certificates. The cupboards are actually very good and so where the options for surfaces and fittings. The Arcitect was very good as well, but like others have said, there seems to be to many people involved in the process.

Still over all I still feel we got a bargin, just got to chase up the electrical certificates!
  • I actualy was looking on here regarding something completely different. However I have just had a kitchen fitted by Tesco Kitchens and I have to say what sold it for me was the consultant whom came to visit me in my home.

I had already seen a few usual suspects with the hard sell - will they ever learn. When I say I will not buy on the night - I mean it!!! Eileen visited me with twenty four hours of my enquiry and came up with a fantastic solution to a very awkward space that all the others had not been able to do. Clearly having a designer with her experiene is what makes the difference.

I must admit they do not seem to answer there phone at the head office, but Eileen got everything sorted and my kitchen was fitted within 14 days of placing my order. The fitter Pete was wonderful and he has done other work for me too. I just felt compelled to acknowledge the hard work of these Tesco employees as I am truly delighted

Does any body know where these units come from, for any supplier?

I have fitted a kitchen and looking around the carcasses are all pretty similar profiles.

The doors/ outer skin finish definitely make a difference but for the particle board underneath it seems similar again. In a lot of cases the units are interchangeable with standard sizes. You can certainly retrofit new doors/draws trim panels to number of them.

The quality of the fittings, hinges, draw construction & runners, smooth close dampers definitely make a difference to a quality feel and resilience.

I guess the fitters that sold their soul to contract for them, that are not up to scratch, will soon be drummed out. No different to the gangs of fitters that do double glazing on contract.

I know their is a risk in who you get but I would prefer to use a local tradesman, by reputation, than any of the big boys, cheap or expensive.

  • I've just had a Tesco Kitchens representative round to do a quote for me. He told me he works for Mark Two (www. marktwo. co. uk) who are the unit suppliers for Tesco, Wickes, Next, The Big Bathroom Shop, Dolphin, and a few others. Tesco kitchen appliances are supplied by CDA (www. cda. eu).
