Sorry Donna but I smell a rat here.

    Cheers

It's very pink and greasy., are you sure it's a rat? Me thinks you need to get out your "How to distinguish a rat from a tin of spam" manual. Easy mistake to make.

  • Since Tesco is licencing it's name to 'Mark II' for kitchen and bathroom sales and installation, does that mean Tesco are in some part legally responsible for the actions of Mark II as a contractor ? I ask this because I'm having a quote for a new kitchen, but really only included Tesco, because of it's size and therefore, the damage to it's reputation if it doesn't behave. On the other hand, Mark II may not have the same reputation to worry about. Obviously, Mark II wish to gain from using the ' Tesco ' name in the advertising, but if all went wrong on the installation, who would ultimately be legally responsible, Mark II or Tesco? I am of the understanding that, if a company uses contractors to carry out it's work, then that company is leagally responsible for any contactors it sub contracts work to. What do you think?
  • If you paid TESCO, then TESCO is legally liable because you will have a contract with them. I would suggest to pay with a credit card or at least £100 of the balance to get the credit card company laible as well!

I am looking for a fitted kitchen and got drawn in by the massive advertising by Tesco Kitchens. I soon found there were better deal elsewhere and that Tesco Kitchens are not competitive nor will they price match. (And their 'free installation' is hidden in their costing). So I am now getting written quotes from other big companies, but I have noticed threads on discussion forums that recommend small companies which make their own cabinets and can compete with the large companies on cost and quality, so I am investigating that lead too.

If you tell us where you are based, someone on here maybe able to recommend a local fitter.

I've just had the Tesco Kitchen guy round here for 2.5 hrs. Didnt try to sell me the kitchen at all - hes gone away to tweak the design, but I gotta say - boy, he did put a brilliant design together. Price could be the scary bit - we'll see
