Car still not sorted!!! Mechanic came last night, switched the engine on, tried to put it in gear and said yep your clutch has gone! er yes I bl00dy know that!!! I want to know how much it's going to cost! Oh we'll come for it tomorrow and tow it to the garage!:( Cue today they phone me and say cos of the roads being so bad they'll try:mad: and come for it tomorrow!!! the roads are a lot better now than they were! tut! Am dreading how much it's going to cost me - i want to cry!!

Had a wonderful wedding and beautiful honeymoon in the maldives. two weeks of 30 degrees then i come back to London to -8! bbbrrrr!
and i only had flip flops on and had to dig the car out of 14 inches of snow! not the best start to married life i must say! :mad:

For some reason I posted a £23 PAD earlier that was actually £25 - oops !!
I have now done another PAD of £109 so that plus the £2 I under declared make a further PAD for the day of£1110 -

What?? You drove your car to the point where the clutch was unusable?
. It's not as if you don't get any warning that it's on its way out. I can just imagine you sitting there revving away and nothing happening.
Paul (veteran of three clutch changes down the years in various vehicles).
I find that it's best to avoid balancing a vehicle on clutch/accelerator as much as possible as that wears them much more quickly. I tend to use handbrake more. I had one vehicle that I took to 142,000 miles on the original clutch - when I sold it. Mind you, I did need the handbrake cable to be changed at one point. That might not have happened if I had balanced the clutch more but that probably would have meant a new clutch. I think using handbrake more is a good habit that has come from owning vans instead of cars in the last 20 years. Slipping the clutch isn't always so great in a van - especially if it has a heavy load (IMO of course).0 -
