I have more than enough for my needs BUT I really WANT a landrover

It would appear that OH is not coming home tonight as expected as his son (who invariably disappears off the radar when things are going just fine with him but pops up when he isnt working/needs help/has nothing better to do) has contacted him finally. It was his birthday this week and OH had been trying to speak with him all week. He managed it on Monday with an agreement that he would contact him again the following day to organise an evening out(OH is currently living just 20 mins away from him during the week). He then disappeared and was incognito until yesterday when he reappeared and announced that he wanted to go out tonight. What could OH do but agree? Feel quite selfish now because I gave him a bit of a hard time about it. Partly because I was really looking forward to him coming home. We have hardly seen each other through the summer and I am really feeling quite lonely at the moment. But I also wanted him to be here to either celebrate or commiserate my news.
Don't feel guilty, I would be exactly the same. Your poor OH was in between a rock and a hard place. His son should be the one feeling bad but I bet he isn't!
I hope you'll be celebrating laterIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -

Bah! POsted this morning and it's vanished! Fingers crossed for you for today - any news yet? This morning I suggested that you must be allowed to nip t o the loo and nobody would know if that wasn't where you really went....
But that's useless now. Hope you got what you wanted xx

Well the news was a little disappointing. They didnt approve my severance. The reason that they gave was that my post is irreplaceable. I am the only member of staff who works in the region and so it would be difficult to replace me with somebody from Cardiff as they wouldnt want to live and work in the area
In the true sense of the scouse saying I was gutted this morning. Since then I have put it back into perspective during the drive home.
Pros- Its easier to get a job whilst your are in a job
- I have worked out my PSB and it is way less than I earn as I worked it out expecting to have no earnings So I can start knuckling down to paying off the debts
- What I have never had I will never miss
- The people that I work with are lovely
- I am my own boss more or less and I can fit work around my home life
- I get paid to drive around Wales and talk to people
I get so tired driving over 200 miles in a day and then putting a days work in
I like the interaction of working with other people daily
I will have to take longer to pay off my debts and mortgage
It will take me a little longer to reach my goal of being my (real) own boss.
Who am I kidding :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Off to lick my wounds and spend the night alone:( Now where is that bottle of Merlot????????

Sorry Cherisong you didn't get what you wanted - Hugs
I know it is probably too soon after the news to suggest this... but...
If your PSB is smaller by far than your current income - would they consider letting you work part time so you improved your work life balance that way?
Could you buy any extra holidays to improve your work life balance?
Are there any other roles locally you could do that you would enjoy?

Cheery, Thanks but I am strangely calm. I think that I expected it really. I will eventually get my final steps in place for the perfect life but sometimes I think that I dont get it because I might get bored.
SH - thank you. On my drive home all of those thoughts crossed my mind. My boss has said that she wants to meet with me. I dont want to appear to be too down because I dont want them to think that I am not still committed to the job. And therefore I thought that I would consider asking for part time after Christmas.
One of the reasons that I want to get a better balance is because OH Mum has finally been diagnosed with Alzheimers and I think that his dad is going to need much more support as the time goes on. This will mean OH possibly having to stay there for longer periods and it would be nice if I could head that way from time to time to give him a break from all of the driving that he does.
Still plenty of time for making plans. I have been let down on a much grander scale than this in the past so this is just a little wave in a teacup.

Ah, sorry to hear about OH's mum
Such a difficult, horrible illness
Going part time sounds like it might be an acceptable compromise for youIt is indeed a little wave in a teacup - and I hope that by the end of the weekend you're thinking of it as a cheery little <wave> type wave
