I have more than enough for my needs BUT I really WANT a landrover

Hehehe if only it was that simple in real life to drop 10 years. Hitting 40 changed my life dramatically SH. Initially I didnt appreciate the change (it wasnt my choice) but I soon settled into being Me and remembering who I was. So the 40s have been my best decade to date. I know how you feel about being afraid of making mistakes but hey, if you dont make mistakes then you dont learn and move on. What is the very worst that could happen. Mind you, I once saw somebody make a very BIG mistake on a treadmill right next to me. OK so I shouldnt have laughed as they landed on their face and catapult backwards into the girl on the cross trainer behind. BUT in my defence, I was laughing more at the fact that he deserved it because he was flirting with the girl on the exercise bike in front and trying to show off by upping the speed and incline at the same time. You be warned. I used to love going to the gym, used to set me up for the days work.
Thanks also for sharing about giving up work before having something to go to. I think that is something I need to overcome the fear of.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. What a brilliant decision to come to. Fingers crossed that all goes right for you. And well done on your finances - you've just reminded me that I got paid today :T and therefore need to do a bit of moving and shaking... x
IF ONLY. You get those figures sorted (including the one that the Shred is sorting) I just popped over and you are doing your usually diversionary yatting!:rotfl::rotfl: I love reading your posts they do make me smile. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. You'll be amazed just how much work is about if you're not too bothered what the salary is providing the hours are right. Temping agencies usually have some wacky stuff and theres never any shortage of shop jobs in the run up to Christmas. You might find doing a variety of things for a while is fun and allows you to work out what you want to do long term as well as making your severance pay stretch a bit further. Taking a pay drop to the £6-£7 an hour level will come as a bit of a shock but you won't pay much tax or NI, if any, which makes a huge difference. Besides which you'll be amazed how far you can make a little bit of money go.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

So it is September. Historically a month of ups and downs for me. This year is going to be different. Lots of ups I am sure. Today a lot of my DDs go out of my account so by the end of the week, I will be clear as to what I have to play with. Planning to go and do a "big" shop at some point today, athough looking at the store cupboards I dont think that I need that much. I have a glut of rice and lentils, couscous, falafal mix, soya and other dried stuff so what does this tell me? Maybe I am not eating as well as I should be whilst OH is away. The Bridget Jones diet has to change this month.
Thanks Moo you are echoing my thoughts. I worked in a shop when I first left school, still the best job I ever had. I am just a bit wary of doing anything yet until I know at the end of the month what is going to happen. I will miss this job as it is very interesting most of the time but I am just ready for a new challenge and to start spending more time at home. If nothing else MSE has taught me that I can have a much more fulfilled life - even earning less money. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. A new month always feels like a cheery new start! :j Good to hear you sounding positive. I was talking to an ex boyfriend of mine the other day, and I could just feel how fearful he was of ever losing his job, which he's not even particularly enjoying at the minute, because he's so afraid he won't be able to find anything else. He asked why I wasn't afraid (mine is only a temporary contract anyway) - and I told him it's because I'm always willing to do anything for a while (shop work, care work or whatever), and I've worked out how little I'm willing to live on, so I know I don't have to earn much and will generally always be able to find *something* to tide me over.
It's really a rather freeing attitude to have I think, makes you much less afraid. He did recognise that he has a feeling about the kinds of job he 'should' be doing - good to realise your potential, but not when it's holding you back from diving in and making a few daring choices.
Anyway, not being very coherent partly because I'm at work and should be doing something else :rotfl: Will pop back later
I love being accused of 'diversionary yattering' :rotfl:0 -
Cheery, apologies if I was a bit too cheeky with the diversionary yakking. It just makes me smile because you remind me of somebody not too far away!
You are so right about fear holding you back. Also about expectations being that you should do a certain kind of job. I have spent my whole adult life "being" what everybody expected me to be. Mostly the one with the stable job, security for others to do what took their fancy. Well all that has changed with OH. He gives me so much confidence to be who I am rather than who I think I should be. Strange as the last time I knew who I was I was 17 and best friends with OH. Now that doesnt mean that I am only confident because of him but more that being with him has helped me to find my confidence and to know what I want out of life. And right now that is as little stress as possible.
Just arrived back from a jolly trip to the beach. Lots of lovely shells and some driftwood collected, not sure what I am going to do with all of these shells yet but it will come to me. Stopped off at Mr Ms for a "big" shop which actually turned out to be fairly small shop. But by going in at 7.30 with a list I whizzed around and got all of my shopping pretty quickly. Just in time for them to announce the reductions on the Fresh Meat counter. I know I am a veggie, but Moo isnt. So off I tootled. I ended up getting a cooked roast chicken, 3 1b of ham, cheese and onion rolls, davidstow cheddar pastie, plate apple pie, malt loaf, fruit cake and it all came to £5.31. A saving of £11.01.:T:T.
Last month I only counted any money I made in the £5 per day challenge so this month I have decided to count up savings as well as money that I make on ebay etc. I am rather chuffed with the my starting figure, now can I keep it up.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Well, I am well and truly cream crackered. I was up at 5.15 this morning (overslept). Took Moo for a road walk because it wasnt light enough for the forest (PAH) and then a quick breakfast, shower, dressed and out of the house to Cardiff. Attended meetings all day and then drove back home. Back at 8.45 tonight. Poor Moo was cross legged when I got in because, yet again, no dog sitter available. He is so good, no matter how desperate he gets he always holds on.
Just paid a couple of CCs but not the Main one yet. Wanted to pay Barclaycard because they messed up my DD last month and have a feeling they will do the same this month. I think they deliberately make it difficult to pay so that they can cancel the 0% deal. They have done this before to me. The website is always down when I try to pay, cant get through on the phone and they fail to take DD.
Oh well, off to collapse in bed but I am sure that I will be awake again in the early hours of the morning. Now starting my second week off, YIPEE, off now unti 15th September. Must make the most of it.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar.
