Oooh- thanks! Was it OK to apply and is it lasting well? Really wanna try this! Am so sick of birds-nest hair!

It took about 1.1/2ish hours to apply - only did it this week, so can't comment on how well its lasting.

I did my first wash yesterday and woke up this morning with hair that only needed a very quick run over with the straighteners - usually it would have taken 45 mins to wash, blow dry and straighten.

I'll update in 2 weeks to let everyone know how well its lasting.

qod gold is free of raw formaldhyde but it contains other aldhydes of the same family which are cancerous. Be careful...people have lost hair after multiple uses.

I'd be more worried about the 'cancerous' bit rather then my hair! I saw a few posts on Makeup Alley a few days ago which freaked me out- but they seem more concerned about people who do this treatment often or hairdressers rather then just having it done once or twice. From what I understand, some have more formaldhyde then others.

Nottslass, do you have an update on your hair? I would love to get this done as I have the perfect out of control hair to try it on, but it's crazy expensive at salons. If people are doing it themselves and it's working, I may just give it a try.

    Sorry forgot the update .

Anyway Hair still looking good & it looks alot better than it ever did before.
Its 5 weeks or so since I did mine and I'll probably do it again in about 3 weeks as the ends aren't as smooth as they were, but as I said its a definite improvement.

It doesn't look like candy floss when the weathers damp and I can leave it 2 or 3 days between washes which I couldn't do before as it just looked like a dry frizzy mess.

The only thing that made my hair look good before was a kerastase hair mask, which was 20 odd quid a tub was hardly money saving !

All in all My DIY job was well worth the time, money and effort and I'll certainly be doing it again

Nottslass what straighteners did you use to do the treatment? I have 3 pairs, 2 of which are GHD's, and none of them are hotter than 200 degrees but the treatment requires 240 degrees. Having had the treatment done about 6 times now I think I could do it myself (with a bit of help to do the back!).

    I used GHD's (i thought they were 230 degrees)

As i've never had it done professionally I don't have anything to compare my DIY job with so i'd be intrested to know what you think :)

Please let us know how you get on.

I will see if I can find cheap hot straighteners to make it worthwhile.

I have done some reading online (always dodgy lol) and some people have said that GHD's have had the temperature lowered from 200 to 180 degrees as hair doesn't get any straighter after 180 degrees. Mine are quite old so won't be affected but I can't find the temp anywhere on the official website.

If anyone has recommendations for cheap 140 degree straighteners I would be glad to hear about them

Once you have done it can you put some light waves/curls at the bottom of your hair or is always dead straight? I would like the top and up to my shoulders straight and then loose curls at the ends.
