Never done it before, but I did quite a bit of "googling" to get as much info as possible (seller also sent instructions).

I made sure that the seller I used had been trading for quite a long time,(selling hair products) and had plenty of feed back. There are apparently rogue ebayers selling counterfeit stuff,so be careful.

I couldn't find any "horror stories" about this treatment and came to the conclusion that the worst that could happen is that it wouldn't work !

IMO if you are used to straightening your own hair then its easy to do - I just followed the directions exactly and didn't cut corners.

I've never had it done professionally so have got nothing to compare it with but I'm extremely pleased with the result.

Thanks a lot for this, I think I'll have a go at doing it myself :)

One more question (sorry) - I have read that you need straighteners that go up to 450 (230C) degrees - I have GHDs and apparently they now aren't as hot as some others. What did you use and do they go to 450? Thanks :T

  • There have been 3 offers for this on groupon recently on in London, manchester and edinburgh all about £50. Ive just had it done but have not bought the shampoo or conditioner -sodium or sulphate free. Can you give me any ideas to buy this somewhere cheaper -ebay?

I also like the idea of doing it myself -could you give me a link to the ebay person you bought it fro -is that allowed?

Don't think I'm allowed to post ebay link, but the seller I used seller "beauty-at-blondies" . I've just had a look and it doesn't appear that the qod gold that I purchased from her in stock (perhaps contact her and see if she's having some more in?). There are other sellers - but personally I'd check that they've got plenty of good feed back.

  • Sea water is a no, no. Chlorine should be ok as long as its not prolonged and everyday, and its washed asap.
boo - was thinking of having this done and it would cover time when we're away, but if i go swimming in the sea it will all be ruined.... maybe i can save up and have it for Christmas instead then!

Just wondered how you all got on with the home BKTs? I read on MakeupAlley that the fumes created are dangerous which is what put me off- just wondered if you all did this outside or wore gas masks or something! Or was it all OK?

I used the qod gold kit which is formaldehyde (sp?) free so there were no fumes - it smelt a bit like banana milk shake.

Wow this sounds great-My hair has a natural wave and drives me nuts as I don't have the patience for lengthy messing around with blow drying and straightening.

Sounds like I need to camp out on Groupon for a London deal unless anyone can recommend somewhere reasonable in Kent ?
