Please can we stop the on line argument- about insurance- all I wanted was advice about which car would be a good deal for £1500 something sensible without getting into huge debates about - insurance a decent car for someone that has hassle with an oldish polo.

Im thinking a Ka or a fiesta?
    Citreon versus peugot

So car buffs advice please? and no more insurance stuff

Ka = Fiesta with less room (it is actually the same car underneath)

Citroen = Peugeot/Citroen/Talbot group and share the same chassis's and engines. Id avoid French cars, they used to make up for being crap, by being fun to drive (106 and 306).... Now they're just crap.

Imagien if every driver under 21 stopped driving, insurance firms would lose MILLIONS and to keep all their people employed they'd need to make that money back somewhere wouldnt they?

No because they wouldnt be paying out for jumped up little torags driving without insurance or thinking they are fantastic drivers able to drive as fast as they want past me without consequence or realisation of their and others mortality.

Then they wouldnt be getting picked out of ditches by the emergency services who lets face it have to deal with enough gore without avoidable accidents.

So I recon it probably wouldnt bother them that much!

Jamie you are fighting a losing argument.......nothing you can do than to accept to pay a high premium because you are young and are male. No point arguing with us folks here, argue with the insurance company, but you may fully well know it wont get u anywhere.

    Get a fiesta

I know of a couple of people who were caught for fronting. If I can pay the fortune as a young driver so can anybody else. Oh and when I was young I used to use the bus all the time.

Far too many young people think a car is a right. It bloody well isn't.

Sarah, daughter who was 17 wanted to drive and have own car.
Narrowed it down with her to Fiesta/Ka/Corsa, went to different garages to "kick tyres" (sorry), decided Fiesta was best overall, THEN trawled internet insurance, rang numerous others for quotes, got a quote for £1100 tppft for a £850 pound Fiesta.
She ran this for 2 years before changing to a 3 door Megane, now 6 years later has a Vauxhall Astra VXR costing £550 a year fully comp, gobsmacked when she got the quote but..., its with Direct line aswell,
All i can say is as at start spend time looking then checking do not hurry ( easier said than done) .
Quinn do 1st time drivers insurance which comes cheap but check the small print.

Get a Mondeo, Vectra or Astra, etc. Keep away from the Saxos, Corsas, 106s, etc. Too many young people these days in small cars that struggle to move up to a bigger proper sized car.

I can see your logic here, but until hell freezes over and pigs fly there is no way a mondeo or vectra is going to be cheaper than a 1.2l corsa or 106 especially not for someone under 25.

Think outside the box yes, but insurance groups do have a massive impact.

Perhaps not a Mondeo or Vectra but insurance works in funny ways as Elephant have shown me in the last few days:

No driver information changed, Male 20 year old with 1 year license and no NCB having had no insurance to date. But once you get to that level of money I guess it makes little difference on car.
