Well, what an interesting visit that was to the Neurosurgeon:

Apparently, I probably don't have torticollis. He said that my lower limbs are stiff. This has never been mentioned or noticed by anyone. It may also explain my knee pains, which were put down to "growing pains".

He'd rather not do botox - because of the issues with swallowing. I am due to have an MRI. I've never had one of these before. ANy advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

MRI - take someone with you and practice relaxed breathing with your eyes closed. Other than that, it's not too bad. It's very like a big, noisy x-ray on a bed and you might be aware of the sensation of your blood being pulled around in the machine - due to the magnets in the MRI acting on the iron in your blood.

I think there is a post knocking around on the forum that I did, giving a full description of MRIs, but I've forgotten who I did it for. I shall try and find it, editing this post with the link if I do.

I slept around my girlfriends the other night, and her dog ate my hearing aid (the earmound bit) in the morning as I was getting ready for work. I had to laugh quite funny enough, however I rang work (Somehow managed to hear on the phone?!) and told my manager that I couldnt come in for above reasons (I said the truth) and he sounded like he didnt believe me, I was shocked at this. He kept going on about 'how could I hear him on the phone and why I would need my hearing aid' such crap. I work in a fast food place which involves customers services ect ect so yeh. I could only hear on the phone because the sound was 'directed' to my ear. I was appalled at this as well as made me quite angry.

They also give me too many hours, I got a shift next sunday which is 10 hours (Is this even allowed?!?! Jheeze). Thinking this I already struggling with my work at college and the bloody work decided to give me 31 hours next week.

Sorry all, im just ranting and raving on and on xx

It could kill the dog if they ate the batteries, they would kill you too.

I cant see how you could hear on the phone either, you have the same hearing loss as I do from your posts and I havnt heard a phone call in years so I can understand why your boss was struggling to see why you couldnt go to work.

If you can hear a phone call I cant see how you could possibley be entitled to MRC as you claimed a few weeks ago.

If your unhappy about your hours talk to them or give up work, there are your only choices.

sh an mri is nothing much but you do have to keep still while its taking place, wear metal free clothing or they will make you strip off.

sh, if you have Raynaud's or are claustrophobic the MRI will be less than happy-making. otherwise you should be fine.

so apparently the wrist is NOT back in properly... I have a scan tomorrow, right before that dental surgery that I'm due, so I will be at the hospital just about all day. Katja's picking me up after that & taking me back to hers to watch me for 24 hours as per instructions. things are very hard with dominant hand out of action, UGH.

Sh I just looked at that link of Jojo's; very good advice there. I've had several MRIs in my time, and whilst it's not something I'd do for fun, as I have claustrophobia, I've coped fine, by keeping my eyes closed and imagining a four-footed friend guiding me - a badger, as they're used to closed-in things. :D It's just a question of finding imagery that works for you. Very best of luck.:o

Trialia oh your poor paw.:( Would a gentle Wolfy (((HUG))) make you feel a little better?

Just had a letter through from the rheumatology consultant (after my horrible appointment last week that left me completely confuddled) and he has pretty much diagnosed me with Ehlers Danlos type iii and overlap benign joint hypermobility.

He doesn't say it is definate in the main part of the letter only may well have but at the top of the letter, he has put "Diagnosis - Ehlers-Danlos syndrome Type III".

He states that my medication should stay the same and is appropriate...which is a hell of a lot better than when I saw him and he made me feel like I was completely wasting his and my time!

Hmm, still as clear as mud then....oh well, I know I am me, I think I am coming to terms there will be no quick fix and back to my former flexible without pain self but what is a name? Nothing really, I'm still me.

But I do feel a little better than it was not a complete waste of time.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

MRIs arnt the tunnel type anymore, the bed moves through a hoop in a large airey room and thiers nothing caustraphobic about it, you are even offered a play list of albums to make you more comfortable.

The old scanners in artics were a nightmare but now whilst it is loud (not for me because you cant wear your hearing aids but I can feel the knocking) its not unpleasant apart from staying still for what seems like ages when my body wont co operate.

My husband is in the renal center because the cardiac center is full due to swine flu and none emergency treatments/ops/procedures are all suspended but they are moving him to the coronary center tomorrow to start his tests, he definatly has blockage/s in his coronary artery we were told today but no decisions can be made about his treatment till all the diagnoses are made after the tests.

He also has more changes showing in his brain scans that are causing concerns, we are seeing yet another consultant late tomorrow to discuss it.

Im so worried about him, hes the strong one who has always looked after me and the kids and now hes very ill and Im not copeing with it very well.

Sunnyone - do you have anyone to talk to about how you're feeling about this? I hope your husband is ok and you as well.

My sister is my sounding board, shes always here for me.

We have to be careful because our son is also very worried and he dosnt want to know any details that might upset him, poor kid a crip for a mum and a very sick person for a dad.

I couldnt take it if he died, hes not just my husband but hes the love of my life, my soulmate and my best friend, we are the annoying couple who can finish each others sentences and who chose to spend as much time together as possible just because we like to be together.
