My son has a rib cage deformity caused by his uncontrolled ashma that dosnt go well with his HMS, it causes pain/inflamation constantly but doctors can always see it as soon as he takes his shirt off so we dont have any problems with it being ignored.

You cant get IS FP, not anymore so ESA is it and hopefully you will get it reinstated on appeal, 40% of people do.

My husband is going into the cardiac unit on Wednsday which is causeing havoc because my other carer cant fill the breach for getting me up/dressed etc. and I cant go out without a carer because I cant get my powerchair in/out of the car and I cant manage a manual chair so how can I get their to see his consultant at the end of next week (to discuss whats going to happen next, probably open heart surgery) we already know that he has a/some blockage/s in his coronary artery which has led to angina co morbid to his stage 4 kidney failure etc.

Just when you think things cant get worse, they do and they do so in a massive fashion

Thank you to you both Im terrified at what will happen, we are soul mates and his pain on top of mine is making things unbearable without the carer crisis on top.

Oh Sunnyone, I really feel for you. There is nothing worse than seeing someone you love in pain and being unable to do anything to relieve it.

You must feel incredibly frustrated at the carer issue especially bearing in mind you husband is your soul mate and how you would like to be with him at this very stressful time.

I really really hope you can get something sorted.

We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

    Ok, some advice needed.

After the Rheumi's comments, I want to make every effort to reduce my weight and get a little fitter. Now, the losing weight bit I can do by going back to weight watchers but where I need a little help is in the getting fit part, safely, in a way where my joints are not put under any more stress.

In years gone by, my idea would be to go all out, do my old dance training, run, exercise cycle etc but I know my physio has said to avoid anything which causes impact or has a repetitive movement, which pretty much counts out what I have always done to get fit and burn fat/calories.

We do have a local swimming pool but money is a problem, I can only just about afford going to weightwatchers without having to spend out for swimming on top, especially as once a week swimming is not going to make much difference and it would need to be more...yet swimming is supposed to be one of the better things I can do according to the physio.

    So suggestions please.....

  • SingleSue, I would second how useful swimming can be - it's non-weight bearing after all, so tends not to exacerbate pains.
Would physio refer you for a course of aqua therapy - can't think what's it called properly!
Or does you local area do a scheme where you can get a reduced price at the Gym if referred by a GP?
Local Authority owned gyms tend to be far cheaper than private ones. Is there one near you.

    Good luck anyhow.

I have been on a course of hydrotherapy, not much cop for losing weight or getting fit in 30 minutes once a week for 5 weeks.

Our local authority used to do a gym thing (and swimming) but I know the swimming vouchers were stopped, no idea on the gym...trying to get anything out of my surgery is like pulling teeth, I have been asking for help for several months now as I know they have agreements with slimming clubs but all I got offered was having a weigh in with the nurse every 3 weeks which is of no use to me at all.

And thanks....it's not going to be easy as I have a very unhealthy relationship with food and diets, I tend to go one way or the other with no nice middle ground and have had to leave weight watchers before now as it was getting a little dangerous and obsessional.

Good luck with the weight-loss, Sue. I'm doing hydrotherapy, m'self.

I do have a request though: please, no numbers in this thread? I don't want to have to leave it, and weight-related numbers tend to trigger me (still in recovery from bulimia).

Right wrist is back in, and in a splint. Sore. Damn.
