FP well done!:T It does feel good to achieve something you can stand back and see like that, doesn't it?
I've spent the morning varnishing a door. Fun! (Not). I feel right groggy now, as the varnish honks something awful. Hope I feel better later, as we're out for a meal tonight for Mr LW's birthday.:o
yes, since my condition has become more severe i have felt very useless, especially with the move to the new house , and it doesn't help when extended members of the family think I'm just being lazy.. So actually doing so doing something for myself without needing someone was a breath of fresh air and it feels brilliant. However, down with a bit of a bump today when I realised I couldn't go in to the DIY shop to order this bit of wood I needed AND go to the pet shop next door ... so I just did the fun bit with the dog and mum did the boring stuff :rotfl:
Varnishing the floor sounds hard! Not really the right time of year to be doing it as you can't really have the windows and doors open to ventelate the room without freezing to death. I hope you are having a nice time out, from what you've said Mr LW is great so deserves to enjoy himself on his birthday.0 -

We had a lovely evening, the food was fabulous, and I even managed to eat all 3 courses!:TIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

That gets on wick too - both my sisters are a bit condescending at times and they forget I have 3 children and no partner!
I'm not lazy - or disorganised as they can so condescendingly imply. I'm knackered and doing this alone. Anyone in my situation is going to findit tough but, when you have a monkey on your back like Lupus, something has to give!
Have a great day LW - and FP - just do what you can do!One life.0 -

Ugh. So, this week has not begun well.
I haven't left the house in almost a week now, between the weather and the lack of spoons. Yesterday my temporary houseguest (who is looking for a place of her own up here) accidentally reversed her powerchair into my front door (into the communal hallway) while trying to avoid hitting my cat with it on her way out to view a flat. (She did avoid Gemma.) Said door came off its hinges, effectively. It was just hanging by the top one, and the door itself is split. Had to call the repair line (she did it for me, y'all know how bad I am with the telephone).
They said they'd send someone out within three hours to deal with it, as it was an emergency repair - it is ice cold in the outer hallway, as there's no insulation and lots of draughts from various places. Yesterday was down to -5C. Anyway, this was at 1pm. Four hours later, nobody's turned up, and it's after dark, and I'm huddled in a blanket, three layers of clothes and my hands are blue. Houseguest called them again. From the dithering about they did, she's fairly sure they lost my repair request in the system. Lady on the repair line tells her it'll be within the next two hours. So when the gentleman finally gets here to check the door to see if he can repair it, it's 6:30 and we're both so cold we hurt. (She's as ill as I am.) He takes the door off its hinges entirely, repositions the hinge on the door to a bit lower down (where it's not cracked), makes a new indent on the doorframe and re-hangs the door. There's a gap near the top now, and the door is still split, but it keeps the cold out, mostly. But you can imagine how many spoons dealing with all that would take.
Add to that! No carer turned up yesterday (I was getting the council reablement service, an hour a day). Houseguest was worn out from calling people, so I had to force myself to do it (and yes, the d-mn panic attacks suck) - rang the council department to see what was going on. Apparently they've handed me over to the agency. And they did this over the weekend. Nobody mentioned this to me. I knew they were going to eventually, but nobody told me when, and on my Saturday visit my council carer said "see you Monday". So they gave me a number for the agency, and I couldn't do it, HG called them. They say "oops!" and that I need a financial assessment - which they have to do in person? - before I can continue care with them. Of course. They've planned this for Friday. So I've got to go at least all this week without a carer, I haven't been able to shower since Thursday, haven't had a change of clothes in days, and I cannot wash my hair without my shoulders dislocating. Oh, and I'm supposed to be singing with my choir again on Sunday. Perfect.
And now I have an oncoming migraine and no spoons. This is a brief burst of mental energy, but I've been in bed nearly all day today, just too exhausted to function. I just about managed to make myself bread and butter and grab a glass of milk for my medication - which I forgot to take last night because my routine was so out.
This is NOT setting up to be a good week.Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Do you need more?0 -
Tria I wish I was close enough, and well enough, to come and assist you, I really do.:(
What a totally sucky week. I guess the only ray of brightness was that Gemma didn't get hurt.:o
I don't have any bright ideas I'm afraid - I'm another who can't wash my own hair unaided; but would a gentle Wolfy (((HUG))) cheer you up a bit.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.

Tria Your post made me so angry. Don't these people realise the impact their inactions have on people? It's just downright irresponsible at the best!
You poor thing. I would get straight in touch with your MP, explain the situation and get MP to hit the whoopass button hard!
