Hello all and hugs to those who need them
-(((((:o))))
Still debating on whether to have the little mobility scooter a friend brought round that he's selling.......it's £80 so the price is right but at the minute I can't get out of the house till occ.therapist sorts out a ramp for the back door -plus confidence is severely lacking -to venture outside on my own is a daunting thought. Still, maybe that'll come back eventually and I may refuse the scooter and then wish I hadn't.......have to try and convince OH. He feels I won't get enough use out of it due to the confidence thing. At the minute I get taken to the shops so feel 'safe' if that makes sense.
Might end up tossing a coin.............lol
Really hot yesterday......too much for me. Cooler today but too much wind to sit outside...........can't win......oh well, maybe tomorrow.
Back to the knitting..............:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

mary-op just my two-penn'orth - I rarely leave the house, but I do have a mobility scooter. It means I can at least take the dogs out when I have them to stay; and it means Mr LW and I can go for a "walk" on a nice day like today (in fact we're going to do just that in a few minutes!) Maybe if you had the scooter, you'd feel a little more like venturing out, if only to justify having it, iyswim?
Oh, and regarding tossing the coin.... do it! Seriously. If you're disappointed by the way the coin falls, you'll know what you *really* want, iyswim.
Just my random thoughts on the subject.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I think cheap but decent mobility scooters don't come along that often - they always seem to be really expensive! Also, if you do decide you don't want/need it you can resell it later. But you'll probably not have the chance to buy it later.
It's coming up to summer so you might want to use it more. Even if you don't use it much straight away it will last for a while.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

probably of no interest to anyone but I attend a lot of auctions and subscribe to the catalogues of many others. It is usual now among the lawnmowers and nick nacks to find mobility scooters and even wheelchairs being sold.
Most go for a pittance , wheelchairs, really nice ones that have all the bells and whistles can go for as little as £10-£20 and motorised scooters less than £100 even for very smart ones. If anyone was interested in looking at local auctions i am happy to suggest a web site to start looking and also can run through the additional costs incurred. Most places will tell you honestly if something works, or if it needs a service, and many offer very low cost delivery in the area.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks all for your advice re scooter. I think its the lack of confidence that is my problem at the minute but I'm hoping I'll feel more sure of myself as time goes on.
soolin - thanks for the suggestion of auction sites - sounds interesting and might be well worth a look.
One way or the other it could make my mind up.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I've got to post and run so this will be brief, but please if anyone wants more info then either ask me on here or pm me and I'll help.
This site
http://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb
Covers all the auction houses that allow online 'live' bidding, and it tends to be the slightly more upmarket houses, so higher prices. You can search all the aucitons in th enext two weeks to see if there is anything coming up , and even if it is too far away you can watch and get an idea of price. Do remember though that all real auction houses charge the buyer a premium, and the site itself adds a further 3%. If you could get to any of the aucitons and talk to the dealers there they will tell you where th eother local auctions are that are not online. The not online ones are cheaper generally.
This one fo rinstance was sold on Friday:
http://www.watermansauctionrooms.co.uk/images/DSCF7353.JPG
The estimate on that was £110
I don;t know what it eventually went for but it you phone the auction house they can tell you, and that gives you a rough idea as to current trends.
If anyone was interested i can start keeping an eye out for all sorts of mobility aids and just list them when I see them, and it might be possible to follow a trend with prices.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Sorry to be a pain folks but could do with some support...
Just caught myself questioning if another poster on another thread was 'part of the conspiracy' (it's partially sectarian this delusion so don't want to say too much more)..
This started yesterday pm when had a row with the sis of a maverick in his eighties over my language in a nutshell...(don't go there - it's too distressing) - but tried to brush it aside and go to kirk. When I got home I was spaced out and hearing voices for an hour before bed.
Now I'm anxious and paranoid? Is it hormonal or just cos the timing of my depot shot is a bit off kilter? (normally due this week but was late last time so now due next week)...any ideas?

Sounds like it wouldn't hurt to give the duty team a quick call. Everyone needs their rest and a bit of calm, and voices aren't very helpful, especially if you're getting anxious as well. The duty psych should be able to reassure you or even sort out your depot a bit sooner.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
I went back to bed after that post and apart from my whole body aching feel a little better. Maybe I just need to rest today? And if like I get the thoughts/voices later on take some prn (that's normally what the ward says..I am not allowed to phone the duty team)....Consultant should be back tomorrow or Wednesday so if it goes on more than a few days I should be able to get like an earlier appt with him or go see the GP....there are options...just wondered if there was an alternative to meds...
Anyhow sleep was good though it was hard waking up....on with the housework (got to take washing out and take some off the airer) - it's about the only day I have to do HW till about thurs or fri and now I have a new prob - have padded too much on debts - not taking into account decorating costs last week (unexpected) - so don't know whether to use baby emergency fund (easy access) for this week's obvious overspend (according to spreadsheet - it would be fine only mobile hasn't come out yet ) or to kind of like go into OD..(Don't really want to do that - but don't want to go into BEF/OD either)....
Any ideas?...Literally I have £10 for food this week and that never works

Erme, if you can eat pasta, I recommend the kilogram bags of Findus frozen pasta - they do carbonara, pasta sauce with meatballs (and you can remove the meatballs before you cook it if you're veggie) and one other I forget, for £2.80. They do me well when I'm on low funds.Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Do you need more?0
