Keep the opinions coming please everyone
I’m struggling to see the link between a disputed feedback subsequently withdrawn and it being a stolen car.
I’d be tempted to edit that out particularly as you have identified the seller
On the car, if you are happy to pay £4.1k for a car with a book value of £3.2k from someone miles away and who you suspect of selling stolen cars then go ahead (having done all the checks you would do with any car purchase)0 -
To OP, Are you aware of potentially very expensive dpf problems on Mazda 6 diesel?
Widely reported regeneration problems, depending on style of driving etc.
Would suggest you ask main agent for full info on service history before committing.
Google Mazda 6 dpf problems to see the £3000/£7000 repair bills, plenty on Honest John site stretching back a few years.0 -
He is a liar anyway, he said he had been offered £4400 for it, yet is happy to take your £4100.
How could a dealer know exactly where the vehicle had been driven throughout it's entire life?
Barge pole and don't touch...spring to mind.
Get your point entirely. Think I've seen the car through rose-coloured specs and lost sight of the ol' sales patter to reel someone in!!!!I’m struggling to see the link between a disputed feedback subsequently withdrawn and it being a stolen car.

Yes, I guess the way I worded that and the IMPLIED, read wrong. I've now edited it as I do not wish to attack the guys character, as after all - he could be totally legitTo OP, Are you aware of potentially very expensive dpf problems on Mazda 6 diesel?

No, I wasn't and in fact - I think your post has just been the final nail in this deals coffinBut thank you BIG TIME!!!!
My old Mazda 6 (too on an '07 plate) was a petrol version so I would have been thinking this was a like-for-like transition?
I will contact the guy in a bit (after formulating a decent story so he doesn't roar down the phone!) and tell him the regrettable decision I have made.
I guess I've learnt a lesson to not deal, especially for a decent amount of money, with something that isn't local.
** Glad I haven't messed up at what is critically an important time, with the baby due in weeks**
Big thanks to all that gave their opinion. It is truly appreciated. My other resort (before my 1st post) was going to the police station to state my concerns but guess they would've told me to just HPI it!lol

If he is selling as a business and has not made this clear then he is out of order. Use that as your reason - plus as a business he is under the distance selling conditions where you can change your mind anyway.0

and I am not for one telling tales, make sure you inform ebay that the user is a trader, and should have is account as a business seller, because the above won't apply in their eyes otherwise.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
It worries me that people slate Ebay and Gumtree etc etc etc..... It's no more risky than replying to an ad in the Autotrader or local rag.
Your effectively saying "use the papers or dealerships and you can be confident of a good buy", encouraging people to take their brains out and walk blindly into buying a car via methods widely and publicly known to rip people off, more than any online method has ever done and will ever do.
Your buying a car, be it new or old or from an internet ad or from the local stealership, you have to be extremely f*cking careful regardless!!
So many people end up with finance upto the ears on dodgy, unreliable cars...... JUST because they thought "we'll go to the dealership for peace of mind".
Buyer beware!“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I would not buy a car off eBay TO THE VALUE of £4000 odd.
It it was a few hundred, even a grand maybe but not £4000 as I would want to go to a trader where by I had some sort of come back, even if it was for a week!
I wouldn't buy the car but now that you have brought it, unless you can PROVE and show strong evidence, you made a legal contract to buy and unless you have evidence to prove the seller, be it he is a trader or private seller, to have written something in his listing wrong, you must carry the contract through.
Also, I have read the listing and to be fair to the seller, they did CLEARLY state they would need a deposit, which you should have sorted prior to bidding - not having ago mate but at the end of the day, you are saying about all these faults now and not giving this guy a chance, you are just going along with gut feeling when in sense you should have thought about all this before clicking 'Place your bid'0 -

No you haven't, there is no legal contract to buy the item , because of a couple of things, first the person is a trader, and selling as a private seller , because of this the auction is misleading , and if the person wanted to take to court they wouldn't have a leg to stand on, ebay will not be interested at all, they are just interested in their fees!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. anyones guess if its a good car or not , no one on here knows do they0 -

Afternoon taffyHow is the weather in Wales today?
Anyway, yes I agree with you, eBay are only ever interested in their fees.
I didn't mean it 'just' about bthis seller, but I was trying to say to the OP that he should have asked all these questions and did all this investigating before bidding, I know I would for £4000 :eek:0
