    Hi all,

Please could you help me I have been trying for hours to get the best deal and cant seem to find anything, im off to spain (alicante airport pickup) from the 9th 5pm to the 16th 4pm and am after the cheapest option possible. Im struggling to work out how to get the best rate. Help would be much appreciated

    Thanks Jason ;0) pretty please

I looked on travelsupermarket.com which compares the main companies. But found rentacarspain.com to be considerably cheaper than anyone else. Good luck!
  • They are also quite good by the fact that if the car you ordered isnt available, they will upgrade for no charge too.

Before we used them, my brother has used them, and now when most of the family flies out we use them. Generally the price seems to get cheaper too, we checked last month and it was up at 270 euros, but now at 217. Quotes also last 24 hours so you could try the next day for another price if you have the patience lol

Afraid I would never book with Europcar, they ripped us off to the tune of over £300 last summer. Looking on the web, plenty of other people seem to have had similar experiences. Let's be careful out there!

I had a similar experience last summer with europcar and basically pre ordered a smart car and ended up with a audi A4 at murcia airport.

the reason for the mix up was due to flight changes, but if you supply the flight number according to the terms & conditions then you should be covered, but not according to europcar as they would not budge at all.
Just recently the sunday times done a survey and europcar was the worst company to deal with in which i totally agree with and if you google europcar complaints up, you will also see, but i suppose we can say that for most companies.
    Keep right on :T

trouble is, there are always bad reports of every company. Just read something bad about rentacarspain.com saying they gave them a scratched car and the price on the website wasn't enough. I find word of mouth recommendations to be the most helpful.

rentacarspain have emailed me to say they will need a 400 euro 'security pre-authorisation'. Anyone know what this is? Is it standard practice?

    Another website requires:
"The lead driver must have a valid credit card or visa debit card, an imprint of the card will need to be provided as a security pre-authorisation for incidentals, damages"
So it's just a form of insurance againt damage which will not cost you unless there is a claim.
I've had this myself with car hire and it's always been OK - much better than paying insurance.

Pretty undecipherable terms & conditions in this offer from Europcar: "blah blah blah"

It was linked to from their Twitter tweet...

    europcar_world Europcar World
