Car Hire - how to get it cheap!

Easyjet offer via their website car hire (not easycar) around the world, teamed up with Europcar. They offer a double the difference guarantee so if you find the same rental catagory cheaper with another "global provider" i.e. hertz, avis, budget (not screenscraper websites like Argus, Car hire 3000) you get 2 x the difference back.
https://cars.easyjet.com/index.shtml?lang=GB&PROMO=47873771
Example
Lanzarote 19/09/10-26/09/10
easyjet - economy car (group a) = £186.51
Hertz - economy car (group a) = £115.23 (always compare prepaid rate)
difference = £71.28
double difference = £142.56
rental cost = £43.95 for the week
Note if you need a baby seat you may find it overall cheaper to go with a local provider as some offer them for free or ata much lower cost
This is pretty risk free, you have a certain period to cancel and get a refund if your discount is not honoured.

I have gone through easycar n found price of 48.95 with europcar - however if i was to go through Europcar own website its only £38.95
so if i book via easycar it meant they will give me a further £20 off this price as its cheaper ?????
Dont wana book it n find i cant do this lol0 -
you must search and book via the easyjet website (look for car hire at the top) europcar will not honour double the diff if you di it via their own website!
use travelsupermarket.com to compare car hire. it gives you a quick glance to see if any international rental companies are coming up cheaper than quoted0 -
Thanks for this. Ive booked and put in a claim as mine was £100 cheaper with Alamo. I assume they meet all the criteria so fingers crossed.0

Afraid I would never book with Europcar, they ripped us off to the tune of over £300 last summer. Looking on the web, plenty of other people seem to have had similar experiences. Let's be careful out there!Hope is not a strategy.0

We gone with Hertz for trips in the UK and Eire, watch out for the excess.
One little knock while the car is in parked somewhere and it could cost a lot more0 -

When we hired a car in Italy for a holiday in Tuscany we took out a seperate excess cover for the hire car, only cost £28 for the week and even covered things like wheels and wipers which arent covered in your hire agreement!.....lukily we never claimed but its better than paying the excess! and also cheaper than the hire company's additional policy!
It was this company http://www.carhireexcess.com/0 -
