Car Hire - how to get it cheap!
Comments
-
When we hired a car in Italy for a holiday in Tuscany we took out a seperate excess cover for the hire car, only cost £28 for the week and even covered things like wheels and wipers which arent covered in your hire agreement!.....lukily we never claimed but its better than paying the excess! and also cheaper than the hire company's additional policy!
It was this company http://www.carhireexcess.com/
I have just used the same company for my excess insurance, £21.89, for 11 days cover, (that is for hiring a vw polo, 2 drivers, spain).
It is worth taking this insurance IMO.
BTW, the car hire cost was £230 for 11 days hire, 2 drivers. That was with easycar.com0 -
enterprise have a excess damage policy of £600 unless u take out extra excess policy, doubles your car hire price justabout.
not that good. you can also google for an independent excess insurance which will cover all car hire for 12 months at £50.0 -

I don't need a car during the week and I don't own a car.
I find this offer very practical for me.
If you have good ideas regarding independent excess insurance please share them.0 -

IF you rent more than a few days a year, it's probably cheaper to take this type of policy for a year. It's about £35 per annum the last time I bought it.
I think there are recommendations on this website.0 -

this insurance is not good for me ...Not valid if vehicle is rented from a location within 150km of usual residence (for example, if you live in London, you are not covered to rent a vehicle in London. The rental location must be more than 150km away from your London home).0 -

The icarhireinsurance.com Annual European policy is the best bet for this as it includes the UK automatically and doesn't put arbitrary restrictions like 150kms from your own home etc. This was one of the reasons that I chose them over the other providers our there as I regulalry hire cars at home as well as abroad0 -

Don't forget to do it through a cashback site.
Quidco tracked me 13 pound on this deal and made it 27 pound for annual insurance.0 -
