    Thaniks,

This basically works out to be the same cost as the small thing. We can have a big car for the price of a small car.

Alot of family members have offered us use of a car, but its never quite the same if it gets damaged etc.

I have just received an e-mail that my claim will be honoured, meaning effective price of less than 20 pounds a day for intermediate car (Passat, Mondeo, Insignia).

Regarding car damage, read one of my posts above and consider annual indepedent insurance through cashback web site.

This way you will have a big rented car and annual insurance for 60 days on the price of a small car. As far as I remember the annual insurance price was about 20-30 pounds after cashback.

Ive had my refund paid and the company I used as the comparison was Alamo so I can confirm you can compare with them.

Thanks! So we now have Hertz, Alamo and Avis as confirmed.

Possible would be Sixt and Budget

    Unknown - Thrifty, Anyone else?
  • I can confirm, SIXT is a valid rival.

    For 5 days

VW PASSAT 1.9 S TD or similar £236.92 at Europcar
VW PASSAT 1.9 S TD or similar £178.92 at SIXT

Double difference of £116 which works out at £120.92 for 5 days rental!! :-D

Can this thread be moved to the Car hire section of the forum, within the travel section.

Ive just spent 20mins looking for it there.

Try with intermediate range compared to Hertz.

What I have just looked at is:

    EasyJet 613.57

    Hertz 465,93

If they honour your claim they should give you about 300 pound refund leading to effective price about 315 pounds for 20 days.

£318.23 for 20 days rental, though im looking for alternative hire car companies.

I did look at hiring it for shorter, but it worked out to be more expensive which is weird.
  • Easycar are offering 10% discount on September pick ups plus 8% cashback (Quidco) - but I can't see anywhere to enter the voucher code - not on the screen where you enter your card details which I assume is the checkout they refer to - anyone used it?

Hi, I just booked via easyjet car for £59 and Alamo are offering £46.

How do I get the refund? The easyjet website is so vague!

write an e-mail to them and follow all the steps described on the web site ... if you miss something they may not honour your claim ...
