Anyone living in the Stroud area (Glos.) may wish to try this website http://www.!!!!!!.com/planet/schoolseconds/ It looks like it's pretty new as the links don't work but it's a great idea. We spent about £40 a year on our kids' uniforms.

my dd is starting secondary school this year (oh my baby is growing up lol) we are moving areas so its been up and down visiting etc. I worked out that if i buy everything from the school including trousers or skirt, blouses, pe kit including optional extra tracksuit etc. then its £158, The school she is going to have taken all the uniforms in house from this year and as far as i can see its a lot cheaper than before but still expensive, Ive priced it all up individually as her dad is going to pay half , ( always a first time) So when i get his half of the money i will organise what she needs from the school and what i can get elsewere.. Im alswo going to buy a little bigger as it might fit her a couple of years ..

The primary schools seem okay - you can go to Tesco (which I do!) but the elder two in secondary school drive me potty.

My DD is starting primary in September - they have logos on cardigan, PE Kit (both top and shorts) and book bag that can only be bought from the school.

The quality is rubbish and when she outgrows them, I will definitely not be getting them again!
  • Hi

I have issues with the school uniform, my DD has to have regulation school trousers at £18.00 each and the qualitiy was awful - split seam on first day and another a week later. No choice in style of trousers which look terrible as they have a funny cut. Skirt is an option but DD refuses as the style comes out short, longest is 20cm, and she states when sitting in assembly etc (on the floor) it is embarassing as skirt is not long enough to tuck over her knees.

This will be an expensive term as DS has inconsiderately grown so NOTHING fits, way to short and DD desperately needs new blazer as now in her 3rd year.

    Hello

Are they a compulsory part of the school kit? In which case, did the school suggest places that these can be sourced? Often, schools with strict uniform requirements will have both (1) a school supplier - for those that can afford new, and (2) a 'nearly new' shop, eg, run by PTA, for those that cannot afford, or who do not see value in buying new each term.

I'm sure that if you give a ring they will be happy to help!

The supplier is way expensive & the PTA have none. They come & go so fast its first come first served & to be honest, i would rather have a new one as i have another one right after to use it!

How much are the ones from the school's suppliers?

I have seen a satchel on Ebay with a starting bid of £22 finishing on 30th July. No bids yet either! Not sure if I can post links but this one. Or this one finishing in 16 hours.
