    Hiya La vida loca

Im gonna look into how to post the pics on here without it interuupting my viewing figures IYSWIM

I guess the first step as they say is to shine your sink daily. Dare I sound like a sad mad nutcase, but the effect on your mood of having a sparkling sink is really something! :D

Once you have done that, you can join flylady.net and get the emails. TBH I get far too many emails so I rely on penelope penguin to post up the days zone. and sometimes I do it, sometimes I dont and sometimes I have already done it!

The next thing to do is to identify any "hotspots" thats the areas in your home that always end up like a dumping ground. My PC table is hot here usually :o but others have it on kithcen table, or drawers in the kitchen or whatever.

the key to flying is identifying tasks and breaking them into manageable chunks so you are not knackered & bored by doing it all in one Hit

So for example if you have lots of clutter as I used to - identify small areas
eg under a bed, or a kids cupoard.

    build yourself up.

Flylady recommends a timer - (is it set for 15 mins? ) personally I dont bother, I have an inbuilt timer that tells me enough is enough after oooh about 5 mins LOL

    Anyway - welcome

  • Thanks Lynzpower everything looks lovely and sparkly like a showhome. Well done. Could I just ask again about the soda+boiling water+tiles job please? I was going to retile my bathroom but think I might be better to clean the tiles up first before going to the expense of new ones. They aren't bad just need a bit or regrouting and a good clean. I have done the shiny sink thing but mines is one of those brown dull looking things so doesn't look as good as shining a stainless steel one.

    Ok
all youll need is a bag of soda crystals. You can get these from tescos, wilkos most hardware shops in a blue bag. And are about 50p

Get a bucket and really hot water and wack in 3rd of a bag. With gloves on get a scourer ( those plastic ones are good) and a hard cheap toothbrush and just get going with loads of elbow grease.

another thing you can do is get some lemons and slice in half, dip in the soda crystals and rub on worst areas, the abrasion of the crystals & the acid in the lemons helps get real gunk off ( baths partic this was goood for ) but maybe your sink might benefit from this .

This was by far the best thing I tried.

  • Just thought I'd mention i was doing the master bedroom yesterday cleaning all slat blinds and I found a weird mass of red stuff all wrapped in cobweb with a spider there too - so i poked it with the end a a coat hanger it was wrapped pretty tight and it exploded and lots of little eggs came out and the spider went crazy so I caught it and threw it out the window and cleaned up all the cobweb and mess.

Erggghhh glad I did it all then as I guess it was a spiders nest with eggs in it. i am not against spiders as they get rid of yucky flies but to have thousands of them crawling in my bedroom is not my best idea of fun!!

the DS's loved using odd socks on their hands and cleaning the slats on the blinds though.

NB note to self next time clean windows after cleaning the slats not before!!!
