moggins wrote:Churchmouse, you have pinched my energy! Give it back!
No point sending it back now, since I've used loads up!:D
I've emptied and then refilled the freezer. ( no de-icing it's frost-free, so just a tidy) Has liberated a whole drawer!! Very useful since it's a fridge/freezer and my only one, so freezer space is always at a premium!!
I've emptied, thoroughly cleaned and refilled the fridge. Not liberated so much space, but can see what's in it!! Love my fridge section. has a meat store at the very bottom of the fridge, which is not only extra cold, but means you never have to worry about uncooked meat contaminating anything else. Found some gammon steaks that had got pushed to the back, which need using in the next day or two, so think they'll do for dinner tonight. DH will be quite happy to do the cooking of them. Not good for the waistline, but he'll do them with onions, mushrooms, fried eggs, grilled tomatoes and potatoes left over from last night fried up!! Yum Yum!!
Have cleared and washed down all surfaces and put back junk that has to live on the sides nice and tidy. Even tidied a couple of kitchen cupboards!
Half of bathroom done, will finish the rest in a minute, just having a quick snack, just a banana and orange, given what I hope to be eating later!!
Not sure I should mention this now, given the sadness so many of you have, but hoping you won't think I'm barmy. Last night a friend rang and during the conversation I told her what a great job I'd done on my oven and hob. Well she dropped by this morning to return something she'd borrowed and came in for a quick coffee. Looked at my oven and agreed it looked wonderful, spotless (it's not that old at all) then looked at the hob, which IS on it's last legs but I can't afford to replace it. Then she says, well I can see you've cleaned it, but it's still damaged isn't it? waste of time and effort if you ask me. Honestly I felt like a deflated balloon! I know it's still chipped on the pan supports, but there are no grease spots or cooked on grime on it. A couple of the gas burners are discoloured, but they're clean. I could have cried, am I just being daft? Is it a waste of time trying in those areas of my home which are, quite frankly shabby?
Snowy, I now feel stupid having typed the above, just wish something nice would happen for you!! I'm so sorry you're feeling sad, perhaps when you do get a new job it'll lift your spirits, and things will go on from there. But whatever, I do admire the way you keep plugging on!!
Right, coffee is drunk, food eaten, bathroom beckons!! Back later, hopefully. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Afternoon all:hello:
Did really well at allotment - dug up potatoes, planted leeks and winter onions. Picked heaps of tomatoes - lots have split so will cook them soon.
Going to:
Tidy from lunch
Get washing in before it rains
place internet offer
baking with kids
collect seeds with kids
No idea on kids tea tonight - they have had pasta at school - one on packed lunch so sandwiches - they had sausages last night so I know homemade chicken nugets will be fine - get chicken out now!
See you laterThe birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Good greef Churchmouse - friends like that you don't need! Voltaire said, and I quote: "This world is full of people not worth knowing". Think of your home as "shabby chic" and you won't worry about it so much. Crikey, if we didn't clean the shabby things, we'd run out of things to clean here!
PLEASE can I come round and admire your cooker AND have a cuppa (I've run out of coffee and can't have one until Justin arrives home).
I'm 'thinking' about making a caraway seed cake (after Justin's fiasco the other day), but I don't want to put the oven on just for that. I'm worried that I'll exhaust myself if I make lots of biscuits etc. and fill the oven up. I dislike having to make these sorts of decisions, when I used to just DO IT! Grrrrr. I had to freeze my blackberries (for bramble jelly later) as I didn't dare make jam for the past few days - will they be ok to use for jelly or must I find something else to do with them?0 -
"...then looked at the hob, which IS on it's last legs but I can't afford to replace it. Then she says, well I can see you've cleaned it, but it's still damaged isn't it? waste of time and effort if you ask me. "
So if it's old we just let it get dirty? Or presumably buy a new one & throw away the dirt with it?!
I'd better give up cleaning most of my kitchen then!!!!!0 -
Ignore her churchmouse, shes probaboly a bit lazy if somethingas dirty, sling it into landfill. my dads the same, he told me to buy a new shower screen this weekend instead of cleaning it LOL as IF
Well Im actually done for the day, Ive got a load of washing to hang on the airer and im going to soak said shower screen sealant thing and thats me done!
Very pleased with myselfand i dont need to do dinner as OH reminded me we are off to see a mate later and he will buy me some chips
awww
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Churchmouse - some people
really have no idea. A true friend will surely encourage not discourage such endeavours.
Well I have taken it a bit easier today (v tired after yesterdays enthusiasm) but I have still done a 5 min rescue on bedroom and found some giftwrap and sellotape I had forgotten about, now in birthday gift box.
I have also started (in babysteps) to rescue my walk in (I say that tongue in cheek as it is very cluttered) larder and found so much rice (basmati and easy cook) so guess what will be on my menu planner!
I have done my morning routine and bathroom and cloakroom both shine with cleanliness. Then sat down with my control journal and started on a master grocery list, (very scary that!)
Still no cookies though! Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

I've been cleaning out the fridge (not very full so I thought it a good time to do it), and guess what..... I've found some 'real' coffee in there!!!! Yay! Guess what I'm doing0

Churchmouse I think I would have battered her and not in the fish way either! It's people like that who are causing the landfill problem
You go ahead and clean it hun, you'll know and be proud of what you have achieved and that is all that counts.
Shame you've used all my energy, mine ran out at 1.30 so I sat down and watched a recorded programme so now I have to do the hoovering tonight instead.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
I'm doing well (even if I have to say so myself).... Have prepared nutty flapjacks, some almond and apricot cookies, a dozen orange & walnut cookies, and a seed cake - all in the oven but I won't cook them until economy electric time
Justin will cook something for dinner when he gets in (I hope), but maybe I can still peel some spuds to help. Running out of steam here again... Can I be the next person to borrow some energy please?

Hey Churchmouse, don't ever feel stupid!! You are most definitely not stupid in any way!! Of course you were upset by your friend's thoughtless remarks. What she said wasn't very nice at all...and that was after drinking your coffee and after having finished with something she had borrowed from you. Miserable cow....if I ever meet her I will give her a thump, after letting Moggins have first swipe of course.
My to do list...oh what a disaster... It has been horrible rain almost all day today - I got fed up looking at the walls and drove to Tesco which is 15 miles from here. I did some shopping - got a punnet of reduced plums which I shall transform into blackberry, plum and ginger jam I think - don't actually know how to make it, so going to guess. However when I asked for a job application form I was referred to the Job Centre. Tut and grr!
I am going off for a walk now...haven't moved my lardy butt for so long, my legs will probably have forgotten what they are for.
Churchmouse...don't you worry about me, I'll be fine! I know things will change in due course, I will keep plodding on, just like we all do.
Justin/Jo...oh all those lovely biccies and cake...your house is going to smell like heaven later this evening...Churchmouse wrote::rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I did wonder where it had come from, moggins!! Well if you will let it out on it's ownNo point sending it back now, since I've used loads up!:D
