Got two meal deals in Tesco with two mains a pudding and bottle of wine. I went through the self serve check out just in case it didn't work. Couldn't believe my luck when it did, I had been reading the previous thread with great interest. But thought I'd be too late. I couldn't find the original post to post there, many thanks to the posters. A nice wee bargain.:T:T:T
There is also an offer on with 100 extra points if you purchase a Tesco finest meal and a pudding, its not very clear on the shelf. It looks as though you get 100 points for every purchase.

Yesterday I bought a meal deal in tesco and got an absolute bargain thanks to double the difference (where you get double the amount they've overcharged you back).
I bought:
Fish Pie
Green Veg
Strawberry Cheesecake
and Fizzy Ohio (?) Wine
I haven't got all the figures on me but they overcharged me by about £8. I think this was possibly because I had the wrong green veg - they had none on the £9 display so I went and found what i thought was the right one in the other meal area. Anyway customer services didn't figure out what was wrong (I had to wait about 20 minutes whilst they checked it all out) and I got about £16 back! Of course I had to point out the double the difference policy to them! I think it was the wrong green veg but it could have been a problem with one of the other items. Anyway this might be worth exploring.
They do have the extra 100 points on finest restaurant meals and deserts - the cheapest desert being £3.50 so if you use the deals then definately worth it (but the waistline will suffer!). However, I have found that if you buy two items in one transaction, they don't seem to give you two lots of points for some reason so keep an eye on your reciept. Customer services will add them on.
Hope this helps someone bag a bargain!0 -

From memory, there are two glitches (I think that only the first appears to still be available).
1) The first glitch is that the Tesco Finest meal deals, where you are supposed to get a meal for two (main course, a side dish, a pudding) and a bottle of wine for £9, still work if you take two main courses instead of a main and a side dish. This saves the difference in price between the main and the side (usually around £1.50-£3.50).
2) The second glitch was even better but only worked when Tesco simultaneously had a meal deal offer and a separate offer for 25% off when you buy 6 bottles of wine. The wines in the meal deal have a notional value of around £9-£10. Then, if you bought six lots of (main dishes, a pudding and a bottle of wine) you got around 25% off meaning that you could get 12 main courses for two people, plus 6 puddings for two people, plus 6 bottles of wine for around £40.
At the time these two deals were on (a few weeks ago now) there was also a code for money off your first online shop, which some people (me included) managed to get, so saving even more! Hopefully this will happen again sometime.“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

Its the fish pie that was wrong. We were sent a message to store yesterday telling us to remove it from the meal deal section. It was communicated to stores in error that it was part of the offer.Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

I bought the meal deal this morning and chose the fish pie (Springhill store). The discount didn't come off so was charged £12.69. CS was very apologetic but became very nasty when I rejected the £3.69 refund and asked for DTD. She said it didn't apply to meal deals. Before joining this forum I would have backed down at this point, but now I am wiser, so stood my ground until she gave DTD. The DTD policy on the board behind her says nothing about meal deals being excluded. So very happy that I got my meal for under £2!0

Your dtd was £7.38 so actual meal deal cost you 12.69-7.38 = £5.310 -
I took full advantage of the second glitch with the 2 mains, wine discount and £10 of 1st shop.
Dont eat them to often though as they are very high in fat, there ok as a one off but i couldnt eat more than 1 in a week.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!:T0 -
Not sure if this is just one off, but funnily enough the meal deal is NOT working at all in a Manchester store of Tesco, they are aware, although they are still advertising it. Apparently theres a problem with the tills! Is the second week, and am off to find out if they have "fixed" it. Was wondering if they had tried to actually fix the glitch....hope not0
