Humour - Don't pick on a bus!

Generic response then - even with CCTV misspelled :->0

Errrr, no it was not - it was Causing Death by Dangerous Driving - far more serious IMHO.
But ignoring your typo/misread - how do you know that he did something wrong? Were you on that Jury? Do you have some 'new' evidence to offer to the Court?
Causing Death by Dangerous Driving carries a heavy prison sentence. I'm confident that if a Jury cleared him then he is innocent of the charge. It's really that simple
The charge could have been anything. The jury found him not guilty of what he was charged with. Agreed?
Ignoring YOUR misread, I did not state he HAD done something wrong, just that the court case only proved what he was NOT guilty of (or HADN'T done).
The two-day Employment Tribunal found that his employer were within their rights to dismiss him. Why? It certainly isnt because he's squeeky clean and had done nothing wrong. Otherwise the tribunal would have found in his favour (or at least partly).0 -
Bus drivers eh? you love 'em or hate 'em.
Take a guess
In the humourous spirit of this thread of course, (not).
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

It is entirely possible he was dismissed for driving a defective vehicle, because it would have been his responsibility to check it - which is probably reasonable grounds for dismissal, but really at the cost of some !!!!!! grease monkey that can't hold a spanner the right way :rotfl:
But without you or I being privy to the proceedings - we will never know for sure - so it will always be guesses and assumptions all round. Pretty much renders both of our opinions or viewpoints equally worthless in the same money.0 -

It's not really guessing, he did not cause a death by dangerous driving and his company were found to be correct to dismiss him for whatever he DID do. That was all I was stating TBH.
As you say, anything beyond that is speculative.0 -
Sorry, but the OP's brother in law is an idiot. It gives us bus drivers a bad name.
You would not believe the training that companies such as Stagecoach offer, in order to make sure they dont have idiots like the OP was referring to.
He not only deserves to be sacked, but also to lose his PCV license.
AND..... for the people who are slating the bus drivers, it may interest you to know that whilst in training lessons, trainees are told constantly to give way, give way, give way, and if need be, STOP until its safe to go.
Maybe bro-in-law should have the guts to show this thread to his depot manager. He will no longer have a job, GUARANTEED.0 -

I fear only if they thought he brought the good name of the company into disrepute. They have already proven they don't give two hoots by keeping him there.
I doubt whether the whole 70 accidents story is true, though. You can have accidents, yes thats a day-to-day risk.
And dont get me wrong, I agree with some of "Bob's" points, the general public couldnt give a fudge about bus drivers. The amount of people who cut me up on a daily basis, making me stop in order to avoid a collision. What people dont realise is that, by making me brake, I could be throwing your aunty/nan/grandad/mum through my bus windscreen, all because YOU wanted to take the risk and pull out in front of me.
But 70 accidents in 15 years? A reputable company would have had an undercover inspector out on his bus by now, to assess his driving.0 -
I catch buses all the time, several times a day and can honestly say since we got our present company on our little route I've never been happier with them, we have lovely bus drivers who don't usually drive like maniacs.
When we had the last bus company my god there were some shockers.
One who thought it was funny to whack the brakes on when you were walking down the bus to get off (to save them time!!) so you'd hit the cab with a bump (whilst holding a small child's hand) .
Another one who refused point blank to stop at my stop, I rang the bell 3 times all told, he told me I didn't press the bell at all, when I said I pressed it 3 times he said that was to many :wall: anyway when he shouted at me I shouted back! It ended up that he opened the bus doors in the middle of the road , refused to drop the floor so I had to drop a twin buggy almost 1m to the floor in the middle of the road, with twins and shopping in it and shouted that 'girls like me were a waste of space' before speeding off at at least 10mph over our speed limit   :eek:Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o
