Is it best to buy the goods then come back the day after.

I've assumed it would seen as too cheeky to buy at the till and then walk straight over to CS

I now write the price of everything I buy down in a notebook & show this to c/s so a) I have a chance of spotting other misprices & b) it is less obvious I am purposely R&Ring
  • Thanks.

I went into my local Tesco and took the 360 up to the til but it came up at the correct £199 price so I left it.

Looks like they may cottoned on to this one?

I now teach customer service, retail and management and have to cover laws and legislation in each. It is a big media thing on Tesco's part to instill customer confidence implying that they'll never overcharge you... but if the mistake WAS ever made then they'll compensate the customers. This gives 'false hope' as its apparent from this thread that there are a large amount of overcharges occurring. Customers feel that they are getting treated well when they receive their refund and replacement, but if things were done properly this wouldn't be necessary!

If I noticed a customer coming back time and time again, no I wouldn't ban them, I've got no reason to, although I'd like to! At the end of the day the customer would be getting one up on me and I'd hate it that I was incompetent. I may feel like banning people but unless they have been rude and/or abusive its a little childish and petty. At the end of the day some people notice that they have been overcharged and then claim in accordance with company policy, the only way to prevent it is to be efficient and ensure that your pricing and POS is in line with company policy, which at the end of the day is YOUR responsibility as a manager.

I have to say that I would be annoyed if people were getting one up on me so I'd be extra vigilant, simple as that - then I'd be the one getting one up as it would be far more satisfying watching the 'regular' scouer the store looking for R&R's that won't work!!!:A

    What a commendable viewpoint. :T

incidentally, I saw someone mention that the laptop offers ran out yesterday - has anyone had a look to see if they're extended?

    C

Just checked the £599 one which is still scanning the same price. The other laptop says its offer is until 30th September so I guess they have extended both.

  • Ok update after a phone to call to HO again and then speaking to a lovely lady, :T the manager was told by HO to let me pick up my Xbox 360 from the store. Now when I rang the manager of the store to confirm he was less than happy. He firstly said if he wanted he could be awkward and just give me the game FREE as it was this the discount came off of, then discussed how people move sel and stuff, also stating he didnt think I had done it  He made a point that it was just for an XBOX and no game and this was him being generous. Eventually agreed I would pop down to pick up just an Xbox. He agreed to let other staff know incase he wasn't there.

Next day telephoned the store to check the manager was there, but he wasn't the deputy manager new nothing about it . He said he would try to contact the manager and get back to me. Got a phone call to say yes he spoke to him and it was fine for me to go down :j then I get a phone call from HO asking if everything was ok, I said well yes am off tonight to collect my XBOX, he said Xbox and game?? So I explained what had been said, he promptly said I will ring you back in a minute and said he was calling the store.

He rang me back and said I have spoken to the store you are to collect the XBOX and game (prey) if they have no Prey games you are to choose one of your own. I was well shocked, he said that alot of managers have been fighting their own corners and that they are being reminded of the policy.

So thanks for you help

Hope this helps others. It seems it's the managers and not HO that are causing the problems. Sorry if that is a bit long :rotfl:

Ok need some advise was told by a manager after being overcharged that Head Office had advised them it was up to each manger and they descretion if they did R&R. The item was over £200 and he stated if it had been under the £200 he would have done it. I called head office from the CS desk but they agreed that he had the final say. He agreed I was right, although I ended up getting a REFUND and leaving after taking his name of course. It made it worse as he walked off with a smug grin and the out of date POS knowing I was right.

Any advise as to what I could have said or done would be appreciated. I also I was more annoyed as he was very arrogant and rude, than losing on the R&R.

only SOME people notice! Picture the scenario. A box full of packs of steak, you pick up the last two. Oh dear, you are overcharged, get an R&R, & they remove the offending label. That box of steaks was full, perhaps twenty packs in it. That means that everyone who bought the steak before you, probably all over the country, was overcharged, and did not realize! How much money is Mr T making every single day from the people who don't check their receipts? THOUSANDS!!!
So all you MSE'ers out there carry on the great R&R hunt. bassman, Mcdonag and all the others keep up the good work. What we do takes a very, very small nibble at Mr T's profits.

I found a store that had the Lego Star Wars II GOTW poster up, bought the PS2 along with the game and hey presto! no discount!

Walked back to CS who I had to take over to the poster (which she then took down) At first she offered me the £20 I said thanks but arent I entitled to a full refund seeing as I was overcharged, she got a bit moody and phoned the manager who obviously said to refund the price of the game, having none of it I said I bought it as a package and as such should be entitled to a full refund of both the game and the console and her reply was "you didnt even leave the shop and you expect a full refund and to keep the goods?" I nodded and she said she would have to get the manager who arrived about 15 minutes later and I explained it all to him and pointed out (as someone else on the previous thread said to) that it was a bundle and as such I should be entitled to a full refund.

He wasnt amused but nodded and agreed the R&R

Felt good after all the hassle!

Respect to all the MSEers out there, I could almost feel you all behind me telling me to stand my ground! :rotfl:

Oh yeah, also got Tony hawks for the DS at another store, sticker said £19.94 and I got charged £19.99!

At first I got a 5p passed over the counter at me, I didnt even touch it and asked how come I wasnt entitle to a full refund as per the poster behind her. She rolled her eyes and nipped round the corner and spoke to a manager who agreed the R&R "this time as a good will gesture" :rotfl:

She did tell me one thing I wasnt aware of though, she said apparently "thats nothing to do with us" which puzzled me, when I asked what she meant she said all the music/games/dvd/electrical is franchised out, I think she said Ecom or something like that deal with it all and tescos sell on their behalf?
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
  • I bought my xbox at the store in dundee sel said buy xbox 360 or ps2 console + game save £20.As has happened with previous posters i was offered the game free of charge but not the xbox. Not being happy with this i accepted a full refund. After arriving home i decided to call customer services who then backed the store. Approx 1 week later after reading in this forum that T had appointed some-one to deal solely with x-box complaints I though i would try again. Although i did not have original receipt only refund receipt cs were very helpful and i have now received a cheque for the full purchase price(ie a double refund.)
