My Tesco in Aylesbury is bleeding infuriating!!! They know all the tricks - there are NEVER any R&Rs!!! The XBox360 ad is the right one with the right Game of the Week, and they are properly SELed. Almost every game which has a possible misprice has had the SEL removed and is not stickered up - i.e. there is no price indication for almost every GBA and most DS games (although this could be considered a minor offence). Couldn't find any meat wrongly labelled, and to cap it all they have removed ALL of the scanners in store so you can't check prices before buying anyway.
Their management must spend a lot of time on this thread. :(
From earlier threads i know that Asda will do a two pound gift card if you find you are overcharged
They never offered me anything like that a couple of months ago when they overcharged me!

But surely employees should be fully versed on all aspects of thier duties. This will of course include knowledge of stock and availability, right down to how a disabled member of the public can gain access to all departments of the store.
But knowing and implementing the returns policy is very high on the list
Also I would still question the bullying tactics that some have reported here, I recall reading somewhere that people have been accused of all sorts and called liars etc in full view of other members of the public.
I would advise all members of staff to tread very carefully when employing tactics like this as they could be holding themselves open to charges of defamation as well as slander!

The drawback of this kind of information exchange - you only hear one side of a story, and you only hear the most extreme examples. Posts are made when the poster is still emotionally flooded and from only one perspective.

There was a post made on here a while ago which I happened to have some knowledge about from the other party. The version posted here was very different to the story I had heard - not because it was fraudulent, but because the perspective was different.

You are still talking about a tiny aspect of the total shopping experience, affecting a negligable percentage of customers.

Technically yes, but they would solve it before TS got there by just putting the games back in the drawer below. They only leave them out to stop the games section looking bare, since no-one would buy most of the games Tesco sell because they're overpriced.
And in any case getting them prosecuted still won't get me any R&Rs :(

On whether staff get the heads up for visits, no I don't think that could be possible. The time of the shop is determined by the mystery shopper within the window given (usually at least 6 hours) so even if managers are told the date of the shop, there is no way they would know when the shopper was coming.

Constantine do you know and are you able to tell us the rates of R&Rs generally in other stores - 1 in 11,000 customers seems very low. Do you think that is just the fantastically good price watching in your store or are your CSs trained like bulldogs not to give one? Just thinking that makes any R&R-er really conspicuous...

I wish we got a heads up on the date

Do I come across as someone who would have a CSD trained like bulldogs?!?

1 in 11k seems very low in comparison to what? There is not a benchmark to compare it to.

I would suggest that it is because outside of these threads, r and r plays only a small part of the overall customer service experience. Congestion, for example, is part of the Mystery shop, as is availability. Both KPI's that affect a far higher percentage of customers.

Out of 22,000 customers last week, 2 received an r & r in my store.

I think that sums up why Tesco won't get rid of their promise. Although we tend to think that everyone is getting R&R's, it is a very small percentage of Tesco's customers.
I don't think Tesco mis price deliberately, but obviously 99.9% are being overcharged and either not noticing or just getting the difference.

I'm sure the R&R's at Constantine's store are slightly lower than average due to inside knowledge ;)

  • Hope you can help me as I am new to this thread.

Went into my local Tesco tonight and theyve got offer on cds 'buy any chart cd and get Justin Timberlake' cd for £6.97. I bought another cd for £6.97 (number 56 in the 'chart' I think) Checked my receipt but it didnt take the £3 off for JT cd so asked at CS desk.
2 VERY rude assistants immediately said 'thats not a chart cd if its only £6.97 theyre usually £9.97' I replied that it was in the top 100 and sign dosnt state minmum spend. The third okay assistant went to check and said that 'chart' means numbers 1 to 50 and therefore my cd didnt count. I said that sign didnt state that. I am kicking myself as I know I should have argued this out- do you agree? I'm not even bothered about getting the cd free I'd be happy with the £3 off JT cd!!
Anyway I got refund on both cds- should have kept them and contacted HO shouldnt I? Can I do anything about it now?

Sorry if this is elsewhere but my mouse isnt working and am not very good at scrolling through threads etc without it!!

    Thanks in advance.

If u work in my local store then you would be lovely and friendly and like everyone else behind the CS desk is

I would imagine 1 in 11000 is going to be a large store in a city centre with people too busy to check the shelves.
