    I'VE BEEN AWAY, BUT i GOT THE PS2 AND STAR WARS LAST WEEK NO DISCOUNT, THE STAFF(DUTY MANAGER) ARE DETERMINED I'M NOT GETTING A FULL REFUND AND ARE OFFERING THE GAME ONLY, PHONED HO, AND TOLD BY THEM TO GET A FULL REFUND, WENT BACK IN STORE, WAS STILL REFUSED A REFUND. CAME AWAY STILL UNRESOLVED, PHONED HO AGAIN, STILL WAITING FOR REPONSE. ANY ADVICE.

    Seriously though, contact HO again, make sure you speak to the person dealing with Playstaion problems, get their name, and ask them to either send you a cheque or have them contact the store first and ask them to get the store manager to phone you when they are sorted.

    They should give you compensation for inconvenience and agrovation as well.

    They did put up a fight for it though, had to get HO & KK to sort it out and overule store manager, great fun!! :D

    Cant wait for the next one :)
  • Yesterday I purchased 2 of the larger selection boxes, 2 for £5. I only bought them as the Mars and Friends had a white SEL and going on this theory I thought it might not discount.....but no the discount came off.
    Oh well more chocolate for Christmas pressies. I would feel guilty about getting a refund on them as I had so many other R&R's.

    might mean R&R done already at store, so they whipped all the posters down
  • When being refused R&R on an expensive item, has anyone ever asked for their reasons in writing with signature? would be keen to see managers reaction to this
  • Yep its the same store.....phoned TS and they were VERY interested. told 'em about conflicting SELs and also the fact that they aren't always honouring their policy. The bloke then put me thru to someone ..... Consumer something-or-other......and he said that if Tesco don't honour their own policy every time then they can be reported and action WILL be taken as its a misleading enticement to its customers :D

    You'd have been put through to Consumer Direct. Did you tell them how the store said it was tough that they had conflicting labels up and that the store made no effort to remove the conflicting labels?
    In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

  • So any ideas what to say when a branch is adamant it won't honour its own policy, and then HO says it won't overule a manager's decision....what "legal" jargon can we say? ie about consumer rights etc. Obviously i know thats a VERY last resort cos it'd really get their backs up, but i wanna sound at least half knowledgeable the next time they try and refuse R&R

    When dealing with TS/CD, I would put more emphasis on the following:
    Well that was what i thought, but they said if i wanted to pay 10.87/kg i should have picked up a packet that had 10.87 on the label!!!
    They left both SELs up so i'm wondering about giving Trading Standards a ring.

    TS/CD will be more interested in your above experience than Tesco not honouring its price promise. The fact that even though you'd told them about the misleading price indications on the shelf, they left them up.

    Yep it was Consumer Direct. the bloke was really interested when i said the store didn't appear to be bothered about having 2 SELs up for the same item, and that they refused to remove one, and yet they STILL refused R&R!! He also said that they can't pick and choose who they aill apply the price promise to, cos there's nothing to say its at the manager's discretion, or you're not allowed it if you've been overcharged before. The duty manager in the store i was in said if i was overcharged it was "tough" and i wouldn't be eligible for R&R :eek:

    If i DO get overcharged in this store again (cos believe me, they ain't frightening me away!!) and they refuse to honour their policy, can i say something like TS would be interested in your prejudices about who can & cannot have the price promise honoured, or do i quote another organisation? ( i never use the term R&R in the store, don't want them to give em something to REALLY pick on me!!)
