I'm loving your new avatar; I really really hope it snows this christmas
. But not until christmas day or after 5pm on christmas eve otherwise I might be spending all of christmas on a bus stuck on the M1
Still, on the +ve side, at least if I am stuck on a bus, I don't have to worry about not being allowed to smoke any more

EDIT: actually that reminds me of a time when I was at college and scared to death of not being allowed a cig during my (hour and a half) exam. My parents were trying to stop smoking at the time and so I stole one of their nicotine patches to "try and get me through the torture"! What a bleedin' rigmorole! When you think about it, when you're a smoker you spend most of your time in situations where you're not allowed to smoke (at work, on trains, buses, in other people's houses and soon in oubs and clubs) and just thinking about when you'll be "allowed" some more nicotine...I think that is one of the best benefits of being a non smoker - you just don't have to worry about it any more.

Hello again everyone! :hello:
Nice to see some more supporters on here! I love the fact that I don't have to worry about when my next ciggie is, ie 'I had better have one now as the next one won't be until X time'.
I have saved £335 by not smoking!!

Interesting about the poll. So far the most successful way to stop smoking is the Books/DVDs etc and willpower. Hopefully there will be a lot more voters and we will be able to see if this trend continues or if it is just us banging on about the book Squirrel!!

Hey nice to see you! Looks like it's done the job on you anyway!
Yes, I'm really interested in the poll results! I've been meaning to do it for ages. I deliberately didn't set an expiry date, just to allow a good sample size to build up. gotta run - I've got a quiz to win! Back soonstill a SF nerd no.1:o

Hi
I'm considering stopping the 'will' is there, it has been before the temptation kicked in! The prob is the bf smokes rolling tobacco like its going out of fashion and in the past when i have tried to stop it drives me totally batty and the smell and it makes me want to puke! He says he will never give up so that kinda puts me in poo creek whenever i am with him! I did really well before (9 months the last time) but i didn't see him that much but I did go to smoking enviroments before the bleedin smoking ban came in!
How can i persuade him to join me in the breaking of the addiction that is the ciggy!Seqes....seqas......seqis.........Ah for goodness sakes woman its .....SEQ UES TRAT ION!

Up until one evening, sitting on the sofa minding my own business when a sledge hammer hit me in the face and I had my lightbulb moment, I also said I would never stop. Ever.
In my humble opinion I think that you should find a way of living with it and setting an example to encourage him silently. Once he sees you all healthy and better off he may start thinking along the same lines...
Counteract it with plug ins on high, pot purri, Doctor type mask with perfume, headscarf tied round your nose !!!
Good luck and don't let it beat you!

Gentle bump... how's everyone doing?
As many of you know, I stopped smoking with Allen Carr (RIP), but before that, I tried lots of other methods, including nicotine patches. Nicotine patches didn't work for me, but other people swear by them, which is why I'm giving mine away. PM me if you would like 13 days supply of 24 hour Nicotinell patches (step 1, 21 mg/24 hour, for those who smoke 20 or more a day). 13 days because I used one patch out of one of the 2 packets. I bought them in the summer and the expiry date is 08/2007. It could save you a few quid.still a SF nerd no.1:o
