Not long. A gradual decrease and you won't even notice it. You will find yourself changing, however. You will be calmer, more confident and more easygoing. The down side is.....err..... NONE WHATSOEVER. There isn't one:j :j:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -

Just been to Poundland to get the nicotene gums. Had one, blimmin horrible, but I can honestly say that I didn't fancy a smoke after it.
The thing is right;
Should I bother with them? If I am having one when I fancy a smoke, then surely all I am doing is replacing my nicotene intake via a cig with gum instead. I know you're meant to gradually reduce the gum, but isn't it just prolonging the agony?
Should I just go cold turkey and grin and bear it?
Thanks for the words of support and encouragement so far.0 -

chuck 'em in the bin. You are just prolonging it. look up nicotine in a dictionary or online. It is a powerful poison used in insecticides. it doesn't matter how you take it.
Within two days of stopping taking nicotine, your stress levels will be below what they would be when you light up (hope that makes sense)
Within four days, it's as good as gone.
Chuck em, take it one day at a time. once you're through the SECOND DAY, it gets easier
Best of luck trickster:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -

I have read that you shouldn't make pacts and stop together, as if one starts again, the other almost always does.
Do it for yourself, not for anyone else. My Mrs still smokes (not in the house, mind).
Look forward to Monday with excitement, not trepidation :T

This is my first post under a different alias. I have signed up under a new name as I wanted to contribute to the DFW boards but posts under my other name would identify me too easily to those who know me. Hope that is ok?
I am going to update my sig with debts etc but just wanted to say that I have been off the cigs for 6 weeks and 1 day now. At 40 a day I have saved an awful lot of money.
Good luck to you all with kicking the habit.*Everybody wants prosthetic foreheads on their real heads*
