Thankfully, although still waking up more often, the dreams and subsiding to normal level. I didn't think I could carry on with them too long.black-saturn wrote:I gave up smoking 4 months ago and have mostly found it quite easy and only craved for it now and again. This is largely because no one else I know smokes so the temptation isnt there. But I am meeting an old friend on tuesday for coffee who I know smokes like a chimney and who I know will offer me one. Anyone got any tips as to how I will get through it?

Hello all, it's been good to read all your posts and to see that everyone is still going strong. I'm on day 5 if I don't count the 2 I smoked on Saturday night.
It was the usual excuse - I'd had a few glasses of wine, a friend was smoking and offered me one when we were deep in conversation and I took it and started smoking it before I'd even realised what I'd done.
I was pretty disgusted with myself, but even that didn't stop me having another one an hour or so later - and that time I was aware of what I was doing.
Woke up the next morning feeling pretty bad about myself and have been strong since.
Have had the odd craving but I find a bit of deep breathing usually does the trick.
Here's something you might want to try when the cravings strike. Take a deep breath in through your nose, and then breathe out slowly through your nose - but imagine you're breathing out all the way down your body and out through your toes. I know it sounds odd but it really relaxes your muscles and takes the stress away.0 -
Hello wrote:I was really looking forward to the house not smelling of smoke too.
Hello Hello (?!),
Banish OH to the garden!! Tell him the house is now smoke free and if he wants to have one to go outside. It will help as the weather gets worse..... he won't want to go out in the pi55ing rain
Mrs TNG still smokes and she has banished herself to the garden
Pats on the back for everyone - keep on stopping!!!:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
Hi TNG
I was really hoping I wouldn't have to, I didn't want to make his life a misery, however I think I am going to have to. I didn't realise it smelt so bad! DF is coming back from holiday today and asked if we wanted cigs bought back - said no!! Bring back perfume instead!! OMG, never thought that would happen!Ciggie free 2am 21/09/06. And you don't even have to feel guilty about spending money on perfume because you've saved it by not smoking!0 -
:j Yep, will be £30 by this evening! :j
Hoping though, that as it's me Dad, he'll not have bought me anything from abroad (not that I want anything, of course) got the hint about not smoking and let me have the perfume for being a lovely daughter :grinheart and a reward.
. What's the chance?

Morning all, I hope everyone is still being strong.
I think that after only 6 days I'm starting to feel better - I've definitely got more energy.
I went to Tesco last night after work and when I'd packed and paid I just strolled out the door - no stopping at the ciggie counter and spending money. That felt really good!
Hope you all have a good day.
