oh CMD I'm sorry you are having such a hard time of it. I think you need to tell OH exactly how you are feeling. He needs to know in no uncertain terms that he is not helping. Wish I could tell him for you cos I'm quite cross for you. I do hope his foot is better soon though.

OH has been told in no uncertain terms and seems to be taking it on board. He hasn't stopped doing paperwork since Tuesday. I have told him that as he acts like a child he will be given a list of things to do and a timeframe for them. I think the penny has finally dropped that I am not superwoman.
With work now out of the way and MIL coming in early Sept for a week, and my Mum coming mid-Sept for a month I think things are starting to improve.
The fact that his boss was so positive about compressed hours has really helped too.
I am disappointed that I had to really blow a gasket to make him realise how stressed I was. I think the hospital trip may have frightened him a bit as well.

It will be brilliant because I am not supposed to be doing too much lifting now with what happened on Monday. And Max is a tonne weight!
Got a lovely package in the post from my MIL today with lots and lots of Irish crisps and chocolate. Yum yumTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Glad you told him CMD. I also agree with giving him a list and a timeframe. Glad he has started sorting things out. Sometimes it does take blowing a gasket to make them realise plus the scare you had could have been a positive thing if it's shocked him into helping you. If you had been in labour he'd be looking after Max on his own at the mo while you and baby were recovering.

Hi CMD I can so relate re your OH - I've blown a few gaskets with my OH this year to get him to understand my medical and practical needs - things that just would never have even registered on his radar otherwise!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks SavingH,

Hi all,
Things looking more positive this week. OH has chased up all things outstanding and is due to get paid 19 hours of overtime in September so that will really help us with our Xmas presents.
I started my Xmas shopping this week and plan to spread it over the next few months so it doesn't all come upon us at once. I got my neice a lovely personlised dressing gown (15% off) and then got some things in Early Learning Centre today for Max and some more stuff for my neices and nephews (20% off). Am going to try and get things without paying full price. I managed to get £52 worth of stuff at ELC and free delivery so am happy with that. Am not going overboard on Max's presents as I don't want him spoilt and his favourite things are balls and birds at the moment anyway so no point in getting electrical things for him, he is more into the creative stuff.
On a personal note, things are looking up for the move to Ireland. OH is waiting to hear back formally about his flexible working request (compressed hours) but his boss has said he has no issues with it so we are hoping it will be a formality.
So all going well it looks like myself and the babies will move at the beginning of Dec to avoid the Xmas travel period. Then OH will start to come home on a Thursday evening and back on a Monday morning. We are bound to this lease until Feb 2012 so OH will stay in this apt until then and then move into the one we own. He will also be advertising for a lodger so that we don't have to pay the full mortgage on it.
I have already sent 7 boxes of stuff home (my sister is storing it for me) and when MIL comes next week I will get her to help me pack some more to be sent home. Some stuff OH will be taking to our flat we own anyway, but I don't want him to have unneccessary clutter to bring with him.
So all is looking quite positive and (dare I say it) organised for the move back home. I am shredding and filing quite a bit of paperwork and being quite ruthless with stuff but already I can see us becoming less cluttered and more organised.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
