darkblue, I'm with you on the Adsa issue. Ive shopped there for years but now absolutely hate going into the store.0

Was delighted to pop into my Lidle today and find the 4 pint milk (or is it 2 litres now! - too lazy to go and look!) down to 89p!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

I shop in Lidl alot and I actually was thinking about where I do most of my shopping and the majority is Lidl an Morrisons. Even though I live really near to a large Tesco - I just buy what I have to from there cos I don't like it much anymore.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

We have an Aldi nearby, and one on the opposite side of town.
I have NEVER bumped into anyone I know in the local one. But, though I go there rarely, the one a few miles away often seems to have somebody from where I live shopping thereimport this0 -

Take pictures and glue them to lamposts! LOL
We should start a movement for the liberation of people too ashamed to shop at Lidl. We'll call it Operation Unashamed and wear their 9p carrier bags in defiance of the mainstream.0 -
The worst thing they did was their 'check to see if you could have got it cheaper' service on their website. You put in the till number etc and it shows how they literally shave pennies from the prices of the competitors and make a song and dance about it./rant.:eek:0

I cringe every time I see the poor member of staff with that awful job.
What a terrible thing to make another human being do - stand around with a large green finger on a stick and point it at checkouts.
That member of staff could be doing far more useful things. Like applying for a job at Lidl.0 -
I laughed out loud when I read this. It's so true! So many people I know will hide their Lidl/Aldi visits like they're just nipping down the high street to raid some bins.
They genuinely have far better quality tinned products than many other supermarkets. And yes! Their fruit and veg is fresh and cheap!
I have to say though, if I weren't at all concerned by money, I would use Marks and Sparks for all my groceries. I tend only to pick up their dine in for two deal every so often as a treat because they're so expensive. But I do feel that (most of the time) you get what you pay for there.
Unfortunately, my local is Asda. They just seem like the most soul-less, generic chain store I've ever visited. There's no personality to the company and they may as well just put you on a conveyor belt and flash offers in your face. I'm sick to death of their adverts stating their the cheapest in the UK for x years running. Yes, because you undercut the competition by pennies and don't have any incentives, such as Tesco's genuinely good club card.

/rant.
I find that Asda genuinely is the cheapest of the big supermarkets for what I buy. And I like the lack of hassle at the tills, no loyalty cards to remember, no bags to buy etc The stores near me have big spacious car parks and aisles too.
the 'space here' signs are ridiculous though, would hate that job!0 -
Oh yeah. Absolutely it is cheap. That's why I still go there. But it has no personality as a company and you're treated like cattle.
It's a good model for a supermarket. They do everything right. There's just the shopping 'experience' lacking.0 -
Me and my family shopped at Aldi yesterday and spent £37.00 we did buy a kids jacket and some carving knives but also got some really cheap stuff, milk was £1.09 which I pay £1.53 in Asda or Morrisons, luxury toilet rolls £3.99 for 12 cheaper than other supermarkets, on items I would buy every week I saved a total of £6.42 which adds up over a month. It was also nice to see the offers etc and the household items like fabric softner and toiletries eg showergel etc, are much cheaper and we will definately be back very soon.
Would recommend to anyone.:j0
