  • hey Danny
hope the mtg at work goes okay - congrats on the rice krispie cakes!!! oh dear..your missus sounds a bit like me "oh your doing that? oo..let me help"... well at least you got some cheap snacks/treats out of it!!
I will have to start looking into surveys etc.. even if they produced amazon/clubcard vouchers for xmas that would be a good start!
I know what you mean about getting everything down to the bare bones... I wil probably re-look at mine but I think Im probably there right now! but as you say, when situation gets better , whether thats in months or a year or so then there is more spare money at the end of it!
  • Hey Danny

Just thought I would pop by and say hi

am still reading your thread with interest. I am still waiting to pay my CC off! So keen to do it, but doubt I will get this done before I go on holiday (saturday)...

Anyway keep going, have you managed to do any Dooyoos yet? I have joined Toluna today, not sure how great it is, but its another way of earning a little bit for Christmas. Its a survey/ opinion site where you earn points to trade in for vouchers. I'll let you know how I get on with it.

Have you considered E-baying stuff yet? I am going to be ebaying on Thursday, ten day listings should all have sold by the time I get home from holiday! lol! Well I can at least hope! I need my OH to get into the loft first though!

Anyway best go speak soon! :j

    Hello Everyone!
To everyone who wished me luck for my meeting today I think it worked! Im still going back on site but I'm teaming up with a really good plumber who i've known for years & we have loads of work for the next 2 years or so (providing nothing drastic happens!) So I should end up being better off... but we'll see!! :D Feel loads happier anyway! So Thanks!
Pammy, Virgin Media Think Tank is a kind of forum where Virgin Media have representatives who ask questions about things like digital TV and internet etc and you get points for commenting on them or for voting in polls. Also other people can pose questions/discussions & you answer them for points, If you get 50 points a month, you get an amazon £5 voucher! Its dead easy but I got asked to join by an email from them so I havnt got a clue how you join! I'll try and find out though!
Twinklie, If things go to plan at work I should be able to put extra OPs in so we'll have to see - When are you aiming to by MF by?
YoungOne, I think being down to the bare bones on bills is definately a good idea - like Martin always says its about getting the same thing for as little as possible! Also, after I recieved my first wage cut (£100 a week) I wrote down a SOA and realised I would still be able to keep my payments as they were - which made me realise that somewhere I had been frittering £400 a month away on nothing! So i'm determined now to make every penny count!
LTTF, if you don't get it paid off by your holiday it gives you something to look forward to after your hols! Not managed to do any Dooyoo's but Im signed up! Might have a go later this week or at the weekend, hopefully once i've done one it will be much easier to sit down and do them! I've got a feeling I signed up for Toluna ages ago but must have never got round to checking them out properly! So let me know if its worth having a go! I have done ebay in the past and have sold a few bits and bobs, at the moment I can't think of anything I have to sell but if I spot owt I will do!

Hope everyone has had a good day today and your weeks started well, not long now soon be the weekend (and your holiday LTTF you jammy git :p). Only 151 days 'til crimbo too

  • Hey Danny

Our holiday was from Ebay! Never thought you could buy holidays from Ebay but there we go got a really really good deal.. £450 for 6 of us, 4 adults, 2 kids self catering in a holiday cottage in the grounds of a manor house! What a bargain so we have paid £225 for us three for the week as we are going with friends. Not too bad and we have ebayed lots for our holiday spends. Lets hope it is as nice as the photos look! lol!

Next year we are gonna try the Sun holidays as a couple of our friends have done it this year and said it was great. :money:

Great news about the OP! and about finding another £400 a month once your wages go back to normal! £400 a month = £4800 a year extra off your mortgage... you will be MF by the time you are 30!

Clearly you are not one for reading signatures Danny. :rotfl: I'm hoping we'll get it done quicker than that...but as you can see we have some other debts that we need to clear along the way. Doh!

 Right, i'm in a bad mood tonight. After having several discussions about money for at least the next month being very very tight due to having a couple of pay cuts and a few big bills going out (as in seriously every penny counts if we are gunna stay out of our Overdraft), OH has come home today and told me shes spent about £8 on a leaving present for a girl at work who has literally been there about a month and on several occasions, OH has sat there slagging her off to me. Now don't get me wrong I know £8 isn't the end of the world, but if the tables were turned I wouldn't dream of spending money that uneccesarily! She hasn't even had the courtesy to ask me if its ok or if we can afford it etc.
So i've told her its up to her, i'd rather not get married than loose the house (i know thats a bit over dramatic over 8 quid but I feel I need to somehow make her realise that we have more financial commitments than she obviously realises). Anyways i'm not speaking to her, shes not speaking to me and I'm enjoying the peace and quiet :D Still very angry though!
I'm sure this whole MFW journey would be 100 times smoother/easier/ enjoyable if I had a Mrs who was more on my wave length moneywise & maybe shared my enthusiasm to be MF...
    Anyways...
Twinklie I apologise and your right I'm not one for reading signatures but I will from now on.. Anyway you keep changing your mind about when your MF date is, I can't keep up! Good luck with getting rid of those debts!:T
LTTF - I've never heard of buying hols on Ebay but that sounds like a right bargain!! I was gunna do a Sun holiday for later this year but with things that have gone on I decided we are better saving the money! (So SHE can use the money to buy her stupid mates (who arn't really that much of a mate), presents ) Hope you have a great holiday, and you can come back pay off the CC then get on with the MF journey!
