Yea i see quite alot of the MFW's have crossed over from DFW, I guess its the natural progression! But what happens when we pay off our mortgage - what will we do with ourselves then?!
Well done though, paying 2.5k off by next month will be some goin! What did you have to start with (if you don't mind me being nosey!)
Thats pretty much our plan, get as much mortgage paid off as possible in the next 2 years or so before Upsizing and then getting rid of the new mortgage after we move!
As for your rambling, I don't know if you noticed but thats pretty much all i've done for the last 3 pages so it won't be out of place here! Thanks for the link I'm gunna check it out tomorrow i think, I'm shattered tonight!:shhh:MORTGAGE JAN 2019

Yeah I think everyone gets addicted to seeing those balances going down!
Of course I dont mind you asking what I started off with, I had nearly £6k (the actual amount is in my signature, see below) worth of Credit Card debt at my lightbulb moment in May 2009. The thing is my cards weren't even maxed out ... I could have spent a further £2k on those cards and I was getting offers for other cards weekly! Scary to think I could of gotten into a lot of a worse situation!
So yep, our plan is to get some of the mortgage paid off, and get some savings! :jThermomix Santander Sainsburys Creation Loans Fluid Card Tax Credit OP

As for your boiler A and AA class is great, heating wise. All i would say is just be careful with your hot water usage, goes without saying the more hot water you use the more expensive it is - but more so with a combi than a boiler/cylinder combo. Saying that if you have had an old cylinder and tanks removed, i'm pretty sure you are still gunna be better off with you new combi than you would have been with the old fashioned system.
I guess each local authority will differ. Our books are free to borrow, but if you want to reserve a book, then there is a small charge. I think its 30p, but I'm too miserable to pay it :rotfl:It's a new library, so really well stocked. I'm never stuck.
The boiler - hmmm...I got a new central heating system as my house didnt have it (the old man who owned the house was an electrician and didnt believe in gas!) So the original boiler was installed in 1960, so it MUST be more efficient than that. Plus, I just dont think that you can beat GCH in the winter, specially where I live
I'll help by starting you off
Danny's To Do list...
This week:
* join library
* look on Amazon for "cooking for dummies" or similar books and note down ISBN no's
* order books for free at the library (check this is free in your library, some apparently charge)
*.....
Yeah, mines charge. You can also borrow DVDs at a cost, again, I dont know cos I never do

Just a quick post tonight, been at my dads all night trying to install Norton on his laptop, which must be THE SLOWEST computer IN THE WORLD! :wall:
Anyways on the old money front, I've been asked to work tomorrow in Shropshire, which is about 78 miles away so its a good 2 hours travel just to get there -all paid of course
. This will net me a few extra quid towards the wedding fund. I transferred the weekend before lasts overtime into the wedding fund so that was another £250, and I reckon the overtime for the weekend just gone will be another £150ish so I'm hoping I'll have it all saved up soon. Then all my overtime is going straight into the mortgage! :T
Scotslass - if your boiler was fitted in 1960 we can safely say your new boiler is more efficient :rotfl:.
LTTF- Well done for not maxing your cards out haha! its unbelievable how many credit card offers we get throught the door every week!
I know this is a harsh thing to say but I wish we could just go to a registry office get married and then go pub for a bit of grub for the wedding (cost about 300 quid)! Its gunna kill me seeing all that money go on one day, when it could all dissapear off my mortgage instead :rotfl:. Bloody women

Hi Danny, just wanted to pop my head in and have a nosey. I must say I am amazed (and slightly jealous
) of your saving skills and money saved at your age. Its very impressive.
I am in the minority I think when it comes to women and weddings, I would do exactly what you said and have a cheap day and a great party! But you only get married once (hopefuly
) It does seem a heck of a lot for one day though doesnt it. But I bet it will be a fantastic day. Sounds like your misses has got a very good head strong fella in you who has his head screwed on and is not wasting his money away on flashy cars and booze. You're in a great trade career that is well paid. Can you teach my son???

Hey Pammy!, Thanks for popping in and your comments! I know, alot of my mates blow their money every weekend but they've nothing to show for the first 20 odd years of their life other than a fully paid for beer gut!:beer:MORTGAGE JAN 2019

Well its the end of the first week of my MFW diary and I don't seem to have done much! I joined the library and rented some books which I havn't read yet joined Imeasure and added my first set of meter readings and joined dooyoo but havn't done anything with that yet!
On the positive side I have started One Poll & Valued Opinions surveys again. I worked out last night my budget taking into account my new basic wage when I go back on site (roughly £180 a week cut) and if I want to keep my basic overpayment the same and my £250 regular saver up I will be nearly £400 a month overspending.:(
I know I could be a lot worse off and I'm just being greedy in the sense that I want to keep my OP's and Savings levels up at what they have been, but it really is getting me down at the moment. I guess I just want to get on site now and get the chance to earn some money back so I can relax a bit but being in limbo not knowing when i'm actually going to move job and if the work is going to be available is making things much worse from my point of view.
Anyways moan over I've got another meeting on Tuesday so hopefully I will know a bit more after that! Once I do know whats happening i'm sure i'll get my head back into this but at the moment it's hard because I don't really know what I can afford etc!! :eek:MORTGAGE JAN 2019
