I remember having it done at primary school too - it certainly wasnt a problem then. Having said that, I doubt that they went anywhere other than the bin!
I would be happier to go to the US knowing that they have such stringent controls than I would if they were just taking a cursory glance at your passport!!0 -

Exactly !! I took a number of internal flights in China this summer and didn't have my passport checked ONCE. One tour guide even checked in for me and handed me my boarding pass when my passport was still in MY bag !! Absolutely crazy.****************************0
