USA fingerprints

This thread has had a variety of opinions that's for sure. I am with you.

I cannot believe that some people think getting your fingerprint digitally scanned upon entry to the US as 'being treated like a criminal'. HOW is it being treated like a criminal ??

I can't believe that people are willing to forego holidays to the USA and now to Thailand (as I mentioned in my previous post) just because they get their photo and fingeprints taken.

As you correctly pointed out, new passports will soon require you to give your fingerprint. Are people going to never travel again ???

Do these people also avoid all CCTV systems as they go about their daily life ?

I think, in part, it is just fashionable to object to some of these things.
Although, as I've said before, if they don't actually do any good, being a waste of money would be a good reason to object.

life is just too short to get paranoid about this . why miss out on great holiday just cause of a simple security procedure.

we were made to feel very welcome when we went to America by everyone we met.
something i cannot say about Greece

America is just futher ahead with this than other countrys at the moment. your children will be fingerprinted at sometime in the future by a countrys border control if they or you intend to travel abroad.

if you have nothing to hide whats the problem ??
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

It is all rather strange as to why the OP would not go to the states just because the kids need fingerprinting.
The kids could be on a no-fly list because they have similar names to known turrists

That was in April of this year.

They were doing bag searches which seemed sensible but I thought the fingerprinting was a bit of an overkill.

Actually now I come to think of it, I think there might've been some kind of fingerprinting, but it was to do with having a ticket that allowed you to visit as many times as you wanted. I think they used your fingerprint to indentify you rather than a ticket. I didn't give it much thought at the time.

Bag searching happens here now at places like natural history and science museums in London. I don't object to that either, but I guess some will see it as being treated like criminals and stop visiting those places too

I had a ticket(room key/card) that lasted throughout my stay at DisneyWorld as I was staying on Disney property. I still had to put my card in though.

You may have to have fingerprints done just to get a passport soon,

Like I have said in previous posts I have been fingerprinted to get in to the USA and not given it a second thought.

Am I to trusting or are others just paranoid
Not paranoid ,just wish to maintain our civil liberties, not have it misused by a foreign state:cool:

I wasn't at Disney but at Sea World. I don't think they fingerprinted everyone, just those with these yearly passes.
